Stones

On this last Sunday in the month, but first Lord’s Day Sunday after Resurrection Sunday, we give God all the praise, glory, thanks and honour to His Matchless, Holy Name. We worship a God who sees, hears, knows and shows His goodness and mercy to all, as He wills. We bow before a God who has told us to call Him Father; a God who delights in calling us His children.

We come as children of the resurrection, children redeemed and completely washed in the powerful, life-freeing, life-cleansing, life-giving and life-sustaining Blood of Immanuel, Christ Jesus, Lamb of God. 

We come, bold in faith, to let all see and know these truths about all who are His, all who have accepted and will accept Jesus as the Son of the Living God, Crucified and Risen. We are His Church, His people whose lives claim these unmitigated facts. Each has been taken from the KJV.

We are Birthed in the Stone of Revelation

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16: 18. 

As God’s Church, we, like Peter, receive not just the Spirit’s revealing about who Jesus is, but we also are given a stone in which we receive a new name. 

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches: To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. Revelation 2: 17

We are Built on the Stone of Assurance

Therefore, thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. Isaiah 28: 16. 

Jesus is our Cornerstone, or Capstone, the Church’s one and only foundation, so that we are assured in all things, we will prevail, regardless of what assails. 

We are Bonded with the Stone of Yield

We are admonished and encouraged, like new-born babies to crave for pure Spiritual milk so that food, what is produced in us is bountiful and beautiful.  Through our breeding and bonding, we will grow up in our salvation, knowing that the Lord is gracious, and good,

To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious. Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 2: 4 – 5.

We are Blessed with the Stone of Silence

Listen to Moses and the children of Israel who have tasted of the Strength of Israel’s God, who is Super Supreme to all other gods. There is none to be compared with Him, all glorious in holiness, fearful in praise and doing mighty great wonders. His unquestionable power and might, witnessed by Israel’s enemies, and heard of throughout the lands have brought trembling and utter terror.

Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over. O LORD, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased. Exodus 15: 16.

God has stilled the enemies, silenced the enemies of His people to be like dead stones, unable to harm His own.

Israel’s God is our God too, a God who never changes, as His mercies endure forever. Are there enemies attacking us, enemies too plentiful and too powerful for our weak, frail efforts to protect ourselves?  God is our Heavenly Father and He will not simply stand back and see His helpless children being devoured by ferocious wolves and do nothing. He will not be spoken of by any, as a Father who has failed to rescue His own children crying out to Him for help. Keep calling out to Him! Believe without wavering! See how our Heavenly Father will make your enemy dead, quiet and silent as a stone.

For the remainder of this week, we shall be concentrating specifically on stones.

Indeed this will be a most eye-opening time where stones will be seen in different, new and more rewarding light.
