All Glory To God

On this final Lord’s Day Sunday in a fading month of April, we give thanks to our heavenly Father for bestowing upon us all, the privilege of being alive to see another day. It is He who has kept us through the past week and it is on Him we rely to bring us through this day and the days ahead as He determines.

Let us, with ever grateful and ever humbled hearts, give all praise, honour, blessing, might and merit to our God and Father in Heaven. We give thanks because He is faithful, just, right and merciful. We revere, worship and make bold profession of Sovereign, Almighty God, because He is all Truth, all Honesty, all Faithfulness and all Love.

We give unceasing glory to God for His Word – For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. Hebrews 4: 12a

We give undiluted deference to God for His Wisdom – But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. James 3: 17.

We give unlimited honour to God for His Will - For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6: 38 & 40.

We give unending praise to God for His Way – I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14: 6b

We give undivided merit to God for His Witness – Surely even now my witness is in heaven, and my evidence is on high. Job 16: 19

We give unyielding honour to God for His Work – For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2: 10.

In lifting our God high, keeping Him above all others, we are mindful and fully conscious that we serve a Triune God, One God in three Persons, so that all we hold high in the Father, is in the Son and in the Holy Ghost. It means that when we know the Son, we know the Father.

Can we ever forget this conversation Jesus once had with His disciples, when He told them that if they had known Him they would have also known the Father? Jesus even went on to tell them that they do not only know the Father, but they have seen Him. Philip then asked Jesus to show them the Father and it would suffice. The response Jesus gives to Philip, is still the same response He gives to many of us, His present disciples, who are like Philip. Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Philip Me? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, Show us the Father? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves. John 14: 9b – 11.

I must confess that listening again to Jesus' words to Philip, I could hear Him speaking directly to me. By faith, I believe that Jesus lives, rules and reigns in me through the Holy Spirit. If therefore, through the Spirit, I know Jesus, then I would also know the Father.

Through the Holy Spirit, we receive this Infallible Word of God, as spoken through the lips of Jesus.

Mark 9: 14. And when He came to the disciples, He saw a great multitude around them, and scribes disputing with them.

Indeed, this single verse presents as quite a dull, ordinary piece of information, with nothing of too great worth, but is it really? We’ll pursue this tomorrow.
