The Sweet Name of Jesus soothes sorrows.
Two believers in Jesus are on their way to Emmaus and they are heavily laden with sorrow. Jesus comes alongside them and walks with them, but they do not recognize their Risen Jesus. They are sad, deeply sorrowful indeed. We know this because Jesus asks them about it. What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad? Luke 24: 17b.
During their moments with Jesus, as He walked with them, conversed with them, accepted their invitation to be their house guest, and shared a meal with them, they came to recognize their present Risen Jesus. The sweetness of seeing and receiving Jesus, was the sweetness of receiving His Name again, won’t you agree? When Jesus broke bread with them, they immediately knew Him, as their eyes were opened and they saw the Named One, Jesus.
Those two believers, who had left Jerusalem, and all the other disciples, so terribly sad and sorrowful, now, without tiredness, weariness, sadness or sorrow, hurry back to the other disciples in Jerusalem, to feed them the Sweetest News Ever. Jesus is Alive! We have seen Him! He walked with us, talked with us, remonstrated with us, taught us, received us, stayed with us, and had food with us. Jesus is not dead! He is living!
Believer! Whatever is your sadness and sorrow even at this time, whisper the Sweet Name of Jesus. He will soothe you in your sadness.
The Sweet Name of Jesus heals wounds.
Here is a believer, one who loves Jesus dearly, one of the many followers of Jesus, who is carrying deep heart and mind wounds. She has lost Jesus to death and not even His Name comforts her, much more to bring healing to her. Here is Mary, weeping uncontrollably, as she is by the place where the dead Body of Jesus was laid. With eyes clouded by tears she looks inside the tomb and sees two angels comfortably sitting there, all dressed in white. They have conversation with her, but as she raises her head and turns around, Jesus said to her, Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking? John 20: 15a. She does not recognize Jesus, so she does not know His Sweet Name. She thinks He is the gardener and addresses Him as the gardener. She does not know the Sweet Name of Jesus until Jesus calls her by her name, Mary!
What a transformation! Immediately, every single heart wound is healed. Straightway, she calls Him by the Sweet Name she knows, Rabboni! O yes! Beyond any doubt, Mary calls the Sweet Name of her Jesus, when she calls Him, Rabboni! He is alive! He is present! He is with her again! To this healed believer, Jesus gives a most pleasant work of being His messenger to the other believers. Go to My brethren and say to them, I am ascending to My father and your Father, and to My God and your God. John 20: 17b. Can't you see Mary Magdalene, wounds all thoroughly healed, with the sweet Name of Jesus on her lips, on her heart and in her ready soul? Perfectly healed of all her heart wounds, and perfectly filled with the Sweetness of her Jesus, perfuming her returned life, she goes with joy to tell the disciples that she had seen Jesus and He had spoken these things to her, to tell them.
Believer! Whatever are your wounds, regardless of how deep they may be, breathe the Sweet Name of Jesus. He will heal your wounds, without scars.
