Spiritual Plunder

Having been brought face to face with the physical, financial and emotional plunder, faced by the Hebrew children, the Israelites in Egypt, and all the other ways you were made to note, in your private times with our Lord, we now turn to spiritual plunder. No doubt you have been pondering on this also. In this meditation, this time of receiving, our focus will be kept specifically and specially on spiritual plundering. This has been given a place of its own for two main reasons.
One is that many of us, the people of Christ, called Christians, are more liable and ready to accept the fact that the enemy and his servants have been plundering us, but we resist the very thought that they can get to our spirituality. Our sharing in this meditation is deliberately dedicated to such minds.
The other is this. There are others of us, disciples of Jesus, who admit the possibility and reality of spiritual plunder, but in the life of another sister or brother in Christ. We never ever are able to see it in our own lives.
Our Father in heaven, only You can expose me to all truth about myself. If I am living in spiritual arrogance, spiritual folly, spiritual blindness and spiritual denial of what really is, according to You, save me from my utter folly please. Snatch me away from all deceitfulness, and even now Father, bring me to reality please. Thank You for rescuing me from my ignorance of truth. Amen!
With spiritually opened hearts and minds, we return to the Hebrew children in the bondage of Egypt, in like manner as we have been doing.
Weren’t they being plundered spiritually? We don’t often think of people being plundered in this way, but when we spend time to think about it, we can become most surprised by what we are hearing and seeing. Let’s reason here for a bit. Do you really believe that Pharaoh and his soldiers, would allow the Hebrew children to worship their God as they were used to and would like to do?
Come on now! Pharaoh was being very true to Moses when he openly spoke these spiritually blood-curdling words to God’s sent servant. Without an iota of reverence or respect to Almighty God, he blurted out, these blasphemous words. Who is the LORD, that I should obey His voice and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, nor will I let Israel go. Exodus 5: 2b. Is this the voice, heart and mind of an understanding, caring person, who will let the children of God worship Him, as they know how? Be ever mindful that we can be plundered spiritually of all the bountiful blessings and innumerable riches that our Father in heaven has given to us, in and through His beloved Son, Jesus.
Let me bring one single case to you, although the Scriptures are replete with examples of how the evil, vile enemy plunders the people of God spiritually. One incident has been brought to you, because out of this one, many truths will spring forth to us. It is the case of how easily we, as children of God and servants of our Lord Jesus Christ, can be plundered and not even realise how our spiritual wealth is being stolen from us. This is a very familiar incident, as recorded and related in the Bible, however, through the single enabling, guiding, convincing and saving of the Holy Spirit, it is brought before each of us, to touch us in the areas that will bring the unwanted alarm of reality. It is through painful cries of admittance and confession that we will be able to resist all that will continue to plunder us spiritually.
Are you and I prepared to face ourselves as persons who are being plundered?
Holy, ever-present and ever-working Spirit, keep me from deceiving myself and pretending that all is well with my spiritual being. Grant me penitence, Father. Amen!
We desire to go forward, as tomorrow we are lowered lower and lifted higher.
