The Sweet Name of Jesus gives the weary, rest.

As we exit this Resurrection Week of facts about the Sweet Name of Jesus to all believers, this word comes directly to you and to me, all who are weary and need the rest in the Sweet Name of Jesus. There is rest promised to every believer, who has been:-

  • Made weary from uncertainties about their relationship with God.

  • Made weary from struggling with the ever present Holy Spirit, not knowing whether He abides in them or not.

  • Made weary about whether or not, all their sins, past, present and future, have been remitted by the Precious Blood of the Lamb.

  • Made weary from second guessing whether they are truly loved by God.

  • Made weary from unsurety of where they will spend eternity.

  • Made weary from doubts, whether or not their names are in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

These, and a lot more real anxieties plague believers, making them weary, burdened, depressed and totally in a troubled state, which is not promised by Jesus. What does Jesus promise? Listen to a very popular, well-known and often quoted passage of Scripture, which many of us need to stop speaking, and start showing.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11: 28 – 30 NIV

Some time ago, I saw a news report of a woman who had undertaken a project of helping the needy in her area. She and friends had placed a box on the street, in a fairly covered place, on a wall, where the needy could come and help themselves to food items. They were specifically targeting families who ran out of food before the month ended, when their next paycheck would be due. It was a ‘Come and Take’ call for those who were in need. The lady checked the box regularly to keep adding items as they were used. The beautiful thing was that others had joined her and went to the box to put in food items.

I think of persons in need and how extremely easy it is for them. All they have to do is come, take, and know ease from their burden of not having food. Not only that, but aren’t those persons receiving food, learning the sweetness and beauty of unmerited love? Track the needy in that community. Only those who refuse to, ‘Come and Take’, remain in need. Is it not the same with Jesus and His Sweet Words to us?

Jesus has made a public announcement, putting Himself in reach of all who are in need. Be reminded! Listen again to the call of Jesus, to only those who are weary and burdened. Just as those people in need have to go to the food box and take as they need, so you also have to: -

Come – Come to Me, and receive rest. I am not sending you to go searching for rest. Just come and receive rest and peace.

I have come Jesus, I have come with all that troubles me.

Take – Take My yoke upon you. I have given you rest, for I have taken your yoke and you have taken Mine. Feel the difference. Your yoke is heavy and hard, but Mine is easy and light.

I give You my yoke Jesus, and I accept Yours.

Learn – Learn from Me. Learn that I am gentle and humble in My heart. Learn this in you as I also make you gentle and humble in heart, to accept My yoke.

I yield to You Jesus, I yield to You.

Find – Find rest for your worn and weary soul. Your rest is guaranteed in Me. You will be in a dry place, but you will not be dry.

I believe You Jesus, I believe all that You say.

Is this not a Sweet Word from our Sweet Jesus? O, how sweet the Name of Jesus sounds to the ear of the believer.

Believer! Whatever is your weariness, whether heavy or light, bearable or unbearable, give it all to Jesus. The nature of His yoke is not the nature of sin’s yoke. Listen to the Sweet Name of Jesus. His Name will bring you rest.
