Jesus Lives And Is Present

Having given praise and thanks to God and receiving His forgiveness for our complacency in thought, speech and action, you are invited to freely and vigorously and joyfully give yourself to the limitless comforts we have in our Risen Lord Jesus.  I offer you the chorus of this stalwart of a hymn by E. E. Hewitt, ‘My Faith Has Found A Resting Place’.  Known to you or unknown to you, will you bask fully in the chorus, if you will?

I need no other argument,
I need no other plea;
It is enough that Jesus died
And that He died for me.

What a state of blessed bliss, comfort and stubborn assurance, to know that Jesus is not just real, but He is really all He says He is. What unmovable peace! Peace that goes beyond comprehension or contradiction, to know, deeply planted and etched within one’s heart, the truths of Jesus. What perfect happiness of body, soul, mind and spirit, to believe and show that Jesus is all the Word says He is!

The author of the hymn has published her personal testimony, her sufficiency in believing Jesus. She states, with absolute assurance that she does not need any other argument for her to be persuaded that Jesus is Saviour. Her one argument is this, Jesus died. She also needs no other plea, but this satisfying, forever, unchangeable and unalterable plea, He died for me.

Here is faith that has truly found a resting place, not in any device or creed, but in child-like, surrendered trust in the Living Word. This offering comes to all who are at a stage in life, where they are feeling the pangs and pulls of depressing fears and doubts about Jesus, as God’s sent Saviour. Regardless of how long you have believed and regardless of how open you have been with your belief in Jesus, Saviour of the World, you are being attacked by the enemy. Perhaps you do not even know the cause of your present, untenable position, your inward feelings about your faith in Jesus. Needless to say, it is becoming a growing bother and mounting concern to you. Indeed, you are becoming increasingly troubled and you are holding it all inside and not wanting to show it openly.

You don’t want it to be known by family, friends, or acquaintances, because they look to you as a person of solid faith, and that you are. They see you as a tower of strength, as an example, one to whom they can go for spiritual advice and encouragement. That is who you are to them without fail. Albeit, you do not want to expose your present malady to them, or anyone else for that matter – friend or foe – as you passionately seek Jesus.

Whoever you are, if this is your present condition, please listen to my Spirit-guided advice. Do not cruelly batter yourself; do not unjustly judge yourself, do not unwisely belittle yourself; and most of all, do not negate this fact in yourself and about yourself. Ere the deceiver is trying his hardest to get at you, to cause you to yield and deny who Jesus is to you, never ever think for a split moment, that Jesus has run away and left you in your grave hour of need.

This week is for you, as it seeks to fully and completely cure you of this malady, by using the experience of one man in the Bible. He is no ordinary man born of woman. He is a very prominent, high ranking, well-known leader, preacher, teacher and prophet.

Give your Father in heaven all thanks and all praise for what you have received and will continue to receive. Bless His Holy, ever-comforting Name, for He knows exactly where you are and what you need. He has provided them all for you, as His Holy Spirit is neither short, nor weak of Hand.

May you again rediscover and be permanently satisfied, in mind, heart, soul and spirit, with who Jesus is to you and in you.
