God's Sweet Word

As promised for this week, I’m offering God’s Word to those who need to be revitalized and be returned to their feet of faith and trust in God, as we face the latter part of the year. Nevertheless, before we get there, we need to chat a bit, as some interesting scenes are brought to mind.
As children, our parents were always conscious of the fact that we should not eat too many sweets. One of our favourite treats was m&m’s, and being the kind, loving and protective parents they were, we were not given too many of those treats at any one time. Needless to say, the measure or amount of m&m’s we could have was controlled by our parents, not by us, the children. It goes without saying that if we had to choose the measure, it would far exceed our parents’ limit. The fact is that they were far wiser than we were, and only wanted us to grow strong and healthy, free from lots of ailments - present and future - associated with having too many sweets to eat. This was not common to my parents alone, but I’m certain it was so for you as well, with all kinds of sweets.
I dare say that now, not just in our more mature years, but because of daily and concerted efforts by health officials, careful, monitoring of the daily intake and use of sugars and sweets has been stepped up. The bottom line is that as guardians, we do not want our children to eat too many sweets, since they can be detrimental to the health and strong growth of our children.
In direct contrast, the opposite is true of Father God and His children. He wants all His children, including you and me, to feed sumptuously on His Word. Did you know that His Word is sweet? Now isn’t that interesting? Whereas, in the flesh, we all are encouraged to stay away from sweet foods, and some are even forbidden to have sweets, in the Spirit, it’s the opposite. We are encouraged to eat as much as we can of God’s sweet word.
As throughout this week, you continue to read, hear and receive, may you be satiated with God’s sweet word. May your mind be uplifted, your heart revitalized, your spirit invigorated and you be quickened in your desire to trust and follow completely, as you are led by our heavenly Father. May you receive boundless measures of the sweetness of our Lord, for His words are sweet and His promises are sweeter. Like the psalmist, we too want to say to our God, How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Psalm 119: 103.
