True, Abiding Servant

Abiding, is a word that is repeatedly used in the Bible, especially pertaining to our Lord. When servants abide in their master’s or mistress’ house, it means that they are living in, and that is where they stay and have their being. The understanding is of servants who have been brought from other lands to serve and therefore have no abiding place but the homes of their owners. In similar understanding, so should be the life of a true servant of the Lord. Such a servant belongs to Jesus and has no other abiding place but in Christ. It is in this light that we approach a question which was previously asked.

Can a servant of Jesus so surrender his or her hands to the Lord, that whatever He requires of those hands is not an issue for the servant? We note the direct moving of the Lord as He calls His servant to serve.

Ananias is given convincing, recognizable proof. The Lord comes to him in a vision and speaks to him. He knows that it is his Lord and Master who is having conversation with him. He knows that everything he is hearing and receiving is all real. In this mind therefore, he must know that when the Lord tells him about Saul of Tarsus, it is real also. Ananias never for one moment thinks that he has lost his spiritual hearing, his divine, heavenly connection, when he hears the name of Saul and what is expected of him. The disciple is sure of his hearing and does not waver in it.

Here is the proof of this. He responds to the Lord on what the Lord has said about Saul. He does not switch his voice, suddenly thinking that he has gone off track and the devil is playing havoc with his mind. No! He does not waver in the least bit and keeps his mind on the Lord. It is precisely because this servant of the Lord is rooted and firmly grounded in his hearing, he responds as he does.

This is what I mean. Ananias does not just suddenly switch gears and turn from Jesus to Satan. He does not think that in one ear he is hearing Jesus and with the other, he is hearing the devil. He does not think that all is going well and when he hears the name of Saul, Jesus’ enemy mentioned, for him to go to this man, he thinks straightaway of, ‘the devil is a liar’ and all such like. No! Positively not! No other person, spirit, power or otherwise enters the mind of this disciple. The Master is the Person who stays before the servant, all during this time of communication. No one else is allowed in, called in, or brought in.

Master, Jesus, Holy Spirit Divine, as You grant me hearing ears and a teachable spirit, make me to know Your voice perfectly. Let me be so unwaveringly and stubbornly familiar with Your voice, that no other power, supernatural or otherwise, will intrude and move me from our time apart, our time together. It is You who have come to me, O Lord. It is You who have come and called me, to give me privilege.

O Lord and Master, that You even place me, and grant me a place in Your Salvation works, is miracle for me and in me. All Glory, Laud and Honour be given to You. Amen!
