Trinity In Oneness

What a Trilogy of Celebrations! Three Lord’s Day Sundays! Celebrations continue! We have celebrated our Lord’s Ascension after His Resurrection. We then moved on to celebrate Pentecost, His Baptism, with the Holy Ghost and fire. Today, we ascend even higher to celebrate the Trinity.

Indeed, today has been designated as Trinity Sunday and we who believe in the Holy Trinity are giving undeniable honour, and indefatigable praise to our Triune God – Father, Son and Holy Ghost – One in Three and Three in One. In our honouring God and giving thanks to our One God, we do so, not just with our minds, our words and our special activities, but we witness to Him in our daily living, so that all will come to know and to see our Triune God in our simple, daily living.

The whole idea and concept of God being One in Three Persons, has been and continues to be a stumbling stone for many, even those who claim to be servants and worshippers of God. Even in our time, there are great, serious and heated arguments and disagreements bringing divisions among believers, about God being One God. Many claim paganism, as they say that those who worship One God as Father, Son and Holy Ghost, are polytheistic and like pagans, worship more than one God. It has been stated and argued that we worship three gods.

I understand how those Christian brothers and sisters think, and continue to pray to our Triune God – Father, Son and Holy Ghost – that they will personally know our God and their God, as Triune. I know that this is serious and God is not asleep on the matter. As I write, I remember one of our Lord’s servants, who had been called to preach His Word, telling me of this experience. He had gone to the assigned Church and delivered his message in the sure power, presence and profession of the Holy Spirit. After the Church worship was ended, he said that a very concerned older member and another preacher as he was, gently told him that he needed to be very careful how he spoke about God. His advice was that in speaking about the Trinity, he could easily confuse and mislead the congregation. Whatever the listening preacher heard from the speaking preacher, I don’t know, for I was not present. However, this I do know. There is controversy, misunderstanding and a desperate need for many to know our Triune God in Spirit and in Truth.

During this week, we are in for a real mind-blower, as God the Holy Ghost, teaches us unmitigated truths about our Three in One God, in the most unfounded and unthinkable way. It will seem most obscure for some and utterly indistinct for others, the way and manner in which God the Holy Spirit has brought it to us. It comes as if it were, pearls from swine, riches from rubbish and spiritual life from earthly death.

What a Mighty, Omnipotent Spirit, has been descended to us! He is Truth and our Teacher of Truth.

Before we embark upon this week of Trinity In Oneness, I invite you to meditate with us on this hymn by Charles Wesley, which was pleasantly brought before me.

We will come apart, tomorrow, as God wills, to meditate and renew our saved, sanctified lives in Oneness, to Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Hymn is: My God I know, I feel Thee Mine
