More Of Our Heavenly Father's Desire

We have been looking at our heavenly Father’s desires for His children as stated in the Jeremiah 31. We noted how very rich and full it is with the desires of God for His children.

In this offering, I bring before you God’s desires which are found in Ezekiel 18: 31. Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? Again, I’m using the method of listing these desires to help make them clearer, more receivable and much more striking in heart and mind.

Faith, though it may be very small, has power to grant you the freedom and strength to ignite your burdened heart and mind. Ere you are cumbered with thoughts, in your present condition, which keep you fast in the belief that you are paying the price for the sins of your fore-parents, burn them away. Just as one small ember can ignite a pile of firewood, so also, your small faith can ignite your entire body, mind, soul and spirit, to receive these desires of God our heavenly Father, as personally yours.

Your heavenly Father’s desire is for you to throw away, and rid yourself of all the wrongs you have committed. Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed. Do you have the power to do such an impossible task? Absolutely not! Can you see your Father’s bigger desire in this? It is precisely because the task is humanly impossible, He draws you to Himself. You are compelled to seek His face and this action of seeking Him, brings Him untold joy and satisfaction. Your Father in heaven desires that you be without sin.

Another desire is for you to have a new heart, not a renewed or patched up heart, but a new heart. Get yourself a new heart. In this time of flowing blessings, when you have done away with your transgressions, you need a new heart. Your Father never does bad business, and it is bad business to have one without the other. It’s like having a bath and making yourself all fresh and clean, then putting back on the same muddy, filthy clothes. I dare say that such an action is grossly foolish and highly unproductive. In like manner, to cast away all your transgressions, but have no change of heart is utterly unproductive, foolish and a waste of time. Your wise and ever caring Father desires that you get a new heart. There is no other way to receive a new heart but by Him. Once again, you note the bigger desire here. Your Father delights in you looking to Him as your source of all good. He is super pleased when you go to Him for a new heart. Believe you me, He already has one there waiting for you, a heart like unto His. Your Father in heaven desires that you have a heart like His.

Yet another desire, as found in the text, is for you to have a new spirit. Get yourself a new spirit. Life is in the spirit. It is not at all uncommon for people to be clean, washed of their sins and have new hearts, but remain in a perpetual apathetic state, because their spirits are low, lethargic and full of deadness. Your spirit must be made new. It is imperative that you get yourself a new spirit. Your forever thoughtful and proud Father desires this for you.  The only way for you to achieve this is through Him and Him alone. Here again, you note the bigger desire, which is your heavenly Father’s good pleasure. It comes in the fact that you have turned to no one else but Him for your new spirit. His joy abounds when you prove Him as your faithful, trusted source of all good. Trust me on this one, Father God already is working His life and energy in you. It is His living, productive Spirit.

Finally, it is extremely obvious, and very straightforward indeed that your Father in heaven wants you to live, and live with Him solely. For why should you die, O house of Israel? Here is your Father’s expressed desire for you, as it was for His Old Israel. Why should you die, when My love desires you to live? For what reason should you die, when I have forgiven your sins, and offered you My heart and Spirit? What gain is it to Me, to have you live as one dead, when I am here with open arms, offering you free life and living in Me?

Child of God, His desire for you is life, not death.
