Blessings Of God

Blessings, is a beautiful word, isn’t it? I believe that we all want to be blessed with good and we all seek to bless others, with good.

On this first day of another brand new week, a week none of us has seen before, we are super grateful and thankful. On this Lord’s Day Sunday, do you realise that the very first blessing which you received for this new day, has come from God your heavenly Father? Your heavenly Father did not just watch over you during your sleeping hours, but He blessed you when He woke you up this morning. Just to have Him include you in the population of His chosen to be alive in this moment of time, is a blessing. We give thanks to our Father for this blessing.

But note! He is not a one-blessing God. He does not just lavish blessings on us and leave us without any care about how we live, what we are doing and thinking, and whether or not we are living His abundant blessings. Absolutely not! Our God cares for every single person, for He made us all. He wants every single one of His creation, to receive His blessings and receive them in no small and meagre measures either.  Our God is a God of blessings. Our God is a God who takes great delight in blessing His people with abundance.

From the Book of Genesis to the Book of Revelation, blessings of God have been revealed to us. Will you receive them again as fresh and new, as this new day? Will you not just receive them with thanksgiving, but allow them to gain more for you, to God’s pleasure and satisfaction? Do not think to be and do like the man in the parable Jesus told, about the talents. He took his master’s good and buried it to keep it safe and intact for his master’s return. O what folly! What wickedness!

Let these blessings not remain with you, but let them so permeate and saturate your lives that even in a simple greeting to another, you will share God’s blessings in your life.

As mentioned, the Bible is full of God’s blessings, but I have chosen to just bring these. We go directly to the beginning and listen again to a blessing of God to Abraham, our father of faith. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all the peoples on the earth will be blessed through you. Genesis 12: 2 – 3. Be not reticent about this, for God’s blessing upon Abraham, includes you, as a child of Abraham, by faith.

In the first Chapter of the Book of Revelation and in verse three, we read these words. Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.  Now is that not a mighty blessing for all who are obedient and remain in Jesus?

During this week, we shall be looking at a special blessing given by an older widow, to two younger women, as she bids them farewell. This older woman has decided to return to her home country because of the good news she has heard. What is this good news? It is that God has poured out lavish blessings upon her country, by providing them with bread.

God wants all to receive His manifold blessings.

Remember, it was God who told Moses to tell Aaron and his sons, This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel, Say to them: The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you;  the LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.  Numbers 6: 23b – 27.
