Our First Hymn
We have been handpicked and fed, I tell you, three of Mr. Wesley’s hymns and we cannot but seek heart and voice, mind and spirit, zeal and wisdom to receive and to publish in our lives, what we have been given .
In this time of Trinity, the three hymns chosen, all open up the Oneness for which God the Son has spoken to Philip about, and to us also, clearly acknowledging, One God in Three Persons. You can read this from John 14: 5 - 14. To every present Philip, Jesus continues to say:-
You must believe that I, the One whom you know and love, your Lord and Master, I am in God the Father and He is in Me.
You must exercise your faith and trust Me that the very words I speak to you are not just My own words.
You must accept that it is God the Father living in Me, in God the Holy Spirit, who is doing His Work.
May our Triune God grant us learning. Amen!
Here is our first hymn.
Singing and Reading
What shall I do my God to love, My Savior, and the world’s to praise? Whose bowels of compassion move To me, and all the fallen race; Whose mercy is divinely free For all the fallen race, and me.
I long to know, and to make known The height and depth of love divine, The kindness Thou to me hast shown, Whose every sin was counted Thine: My God for me resigned His breath, He died, to save my soul from death.
How shall I thank Thee for the grace, On me, and all mankind bestowed! O that my every breath were praise, O that my heart were filled with God! My heart would then with love o’erflow, And all my life Thy glory show.
Let me hasten to acknowledge that I have been made aware of the publication of this hymn with other verses, however, I have taken those as published in the hymnal which I use. In these three verses we have all that is to be conveyed to us.
Ponder upon the words of the hymn in faith - whether you sing them, read them, or listen to them read to you – believing all that they convey to you.
Tomorrow we shall discuss what you have gleaned.
