Resurrection Talk Gives More

Having had our faith exercised, as we were taken through a most divinely Spirit-led and faith-exercising path, of wisdom and understanding in Resurrection Talk, we cannot but give God all the honour and respect due to Him. It is faith and faith alone, which allowed us and still allows us to bow in reverence and fear, before the invisible Presence and inaudible Words of Sovereign, Omnipotent God, whose Sovereign Works still can change unbelieving hearts.
May our most gracious and seeking Heavenly Father, continue to exercise our faith, building us up into His most Holy hope. May we know His perfect peace and assurance in our hearts, keeping our minds safe and sound in Him, from day to day. Amen!
In this devotion, which brings no less desirous and stupendously miraculous changes, we thank God for faith to receive. We live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5: 7. This being the case, we continue to see unearthed treasure before us, sell all our possessions - our stubborn ways, our self-centeredness and harboured pride and deceived minds – to name a few, in order to receive more and more spiritual, life-giving treasures from our Lord.
We are looking at a most touching, yet fully transforming scene, where Jesus gives more, in Resurrection Talk, to His mother and the disciple whom He loved. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, Dear woman, here is your son, and to the disciple, Here is your mother. From that time on the disciple took her into his home. John 19: 26 – 27.
Let’s get a vividly alive picture of the place where Jesus sees His mother, the disciple whom He loves, and all the others who belonged to Him. When Jesus saw his mother there. The pronoun, there, speaks of the place where Jesus is dying a cursed death. Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree. Galatians 3: 13b. There, is the mount, outside the city wall, where Jesus and two thieves are being crucified together. There, is not just the place, but it includes the very upbeat pulse and victory-style atmosphere, where the majority of people present, from Jewish chief priests, to Gentiles, to those passing by, are rejoicing that Jesus is dying on a Cross.
There, in the midst of this carnival-type atmosphere, are a few men and women who stand silently watching; with grief and disbelief; with tears and fears; with disappointment and confusion; with deep sorrow and inconsolable sadness. There, stand Jesus’ mother and the disciple whom He loved. Here is your son, and Here is your mother. We know that Jesus is not just filling a physical gap or void in the lives of His mother, or the disciple. Those words are not given to a motherless young man, or a childless mother. We must rely solely on the Holy Spirit, Teacher and Counsellor to grant us life-changing talk, which will bring Divine, Spiritual understanding.
Spiritual understanding facilitates divinity.
If divinity is only facilitated by the Spirit, then look at what has just taken place. In this most death place, where it seems as though humanity has conquered divinity and evil has triumphed over good, Jesus speaks Resurrection Words, which give new birth to Mary and John. Follow closely now. When Jesus gives Mary a son - Here is your son - is He not giving her His spiritually adopted son? When we read of the kind of close bond between Jesus and the disciple, one is clear to see a Father-son type relationship. In fact, we are told that this disciple never sat to meals with them, if he was not leaning his head on Jesus’ bosom. Check more of this in the Bible.
Now look at this! Isn’t the disciple whom He loved, given Jesus’ spiritual mother? Remember, Mary had Jesus through divine intervention. The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Luke 1: 35b. Jesus only knows His supernatural human birth, through God’s chosen vessel, His mother Mary. When He gives His Spiritual son, His mother, isn’t He giving him a Spiritual mother, in terms of His birth? When the Spirit gives life to our spiritual hearts and minds, we are able to bow to the fact that Jesus, with His words, is facilitating what is totally Divine, totally Spiritual. This was not just earthly, carnal giving. His Talk or His Words to them, hold the Spiritual.
Spiritual understanding fosters unity
In giving them each other, He gave them Spiritual unity. We know that strong filial unity already existing between these two. You see, Mary was one of the women who travelled with Jesus and the disciples to serve them. However, when Jesus spoke these words, Here is your son, Here is your mother, He spoke into existence strong, spiritual unity, as God spoke the unity of sun and moon into harmonious living. In giving them Spiritual unity, Jesus gave them more in terms of: -
Spiritual relationship –This disciple and Mary, as with all the others, would have already shared a platonic relationship. Jesus gives them more – a deeper relationship, when He spoke into being, binding unity, as was spoken by God, when He spoke light into being. How can I say this? Simply because, when Jesus gave His mother and His son to each other, He gave Himself and He is Spirit.
Spiritual fellowship – Travelling together with Jesus and His disciples, Mary, like the other women disciples or followers, would have close contacts with the twelve. They would have already been sharing healthy, mutual fellowship. Jesus has given them, more – higher Spiritual fellowship. They don’t have to now work to build this fellowship. It is what is spoken in them, with the same authority God spoke light into being. How do I know this? Simply because, Jesus gave Himself to them and He is Spirit.
Spiritual ownership – Let’s do some simple reasoning here. Can you give away what is not yours? Can you give a mother’s son away, when the mother is present and still very much caring for her son? Aren’t you seeing more clearly, that Jesus’ Talk from His cross, is not solely of the flesh, but of the Spirit? From that time on the disciple took her into his home. Using the Biblical understanding of home at that time, we know that Mary was taken into John’s household. What a beautiful life of spiritual freedom, belonging, ownership and most of all, peace on earth.
We leave this Resurrecting Talk rejoicing! We are not just rejoicing in the fact that Jesus is actively present, but that because of Him, many a follower, can receive more, and abide in the stubborn assurance of change, receiving deeper spiritual living with Him.
Behold! Jesus’ mother and disciple have received abundantly more, through Jesus’ Resurrection Talk. Whoever you are on this day of delivery and hope, know that Resurrection Talk can and will afford you deeper peace in the Lord.
