God The Holy Spirit

On this final Lord’s Day Sunday in Lent, before we enter into a Holy Week Walk, we come filled with hope and joy in our Lord Jesus and His shed Blood for us. We come in holy awe before the throne of grace, seeking forgiveness for the times when we have been acting as if the shed Blood of our Lord was not sufficient for us, or potent enough for us, to deliver us and save us from the wrath of Father God.


We come with consciences which allow us to know that our Lord’s Blood is precious and it is that precious, stainless blood that was stained with our sins, so that He could be the propitiation for our sins.


We come ever mindful that it was while we were yet sinners, Christ Jesus died for us.


We come with submissive hearts and surrendered minds, looking only unto Jesus, our joy and our hope of glory.


Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation. Colossians 1: 21 – 22. 

How can we not but give unending praise and thanks to Jesus, Redeemer and Lord, in all the thoughts we think, all the words we speak and all the things we do? To Him who loved us and freed us from our sins by His Precious, Powerful Blood, we offer our lives in eternal gratitude. To Him who continues to be faithful in His Love to us, through the ever abiding presence of His Holy Spirit, we surrender all that we have and all that we are to Him.


It is His sent Holy Spirit who is our perfectly sufficient, all-knowledgeable Teacher, Leader and Guide. We pause at the beginning of this most endearing and full week, these days before we are brought to the, Big Week, I call it, Holy Week, with fear and awe. We are spending these moments being reminded of who our present Holy Spirit is. We know and speak with joy and honour about, our Heavenly Father. We are never hesitant to give thanks to, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Today we are equally happy, and thankful to give deference, honour, thanks and praise to, our ever present Holy Spirit, He who works in us the works of our Father, through His Son Jesus.


Let’s, simply lose all our self-thoughts, ideas, wills and minds, and hear again, what our Lord Jesus has told us about our Holy Spirit, sent down to us from our Father in heaven above. We receive, in faith and trust with thanksgiving, through the same One, Enabling Holy Spirit, what Jesus our Lord, has told us about the One whom He will send from the Father namely, The Paraclete.


This is what Jesus has told His disciples and all of us who have decided to follow Him earnestly, faithfully and joyfully. When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. John 15: 26.


The Holy Spirit is very much in the forefront of the work of redemption. Will you listen to the miracle, saving power in these verses? Will you see God, the Holy Spirit in the salvation of sinners, those without a hope of entering the Kingdom of Heaven without the cleansing, pardoning Blood of Jesus?    

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6: 9 – 11 KJV. Let this remain with you, as it resonates deeply. You and I are justified in the Name of Jesus and by the continued works of the Holy Spirit.


This week promises to be a wild, exciting and different week. Wild, in terms of the freedom of the Holy Spirit, like the unpredictable, uncontrollable, unchained wind, to blow where it wills. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit. John 3: 8. This tells us that if we are born of the Spirit then the very nature, will and way of the Spirit abide in us and we can no more control Him than we can control the wind. May He prepare us for a week that goes here, there and everywhere, as we are led by the Wind of the Spirit.


Holy Spirit, continue to humble us and change us, in Your image and likeness, as we continue to travel with You. Amen!
