True Praise; True God

On this first Lord’s Day Sunday in a new month of May, may the will, way and wisdom of our all sufficient and all efficient heavenly Father ever be our praise and glory. What a Mighty, Omnificent and Wondrous God we serve! Let us all, who love and serve the Lord God, lift His matchless Name high, with resounding honour, glory, praise and thanks.
In this moment of time, let each of us who knows God, bless His Hallowed Name as, like the psalmist, we too are able to testify and bear witness to who our Lord is. For I know that the LORD is great, and our Lord is above all gods. Whatever the LORD pleases He does, in heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deep places. Psalm 135: 5 – 6.
The psalmist goes on to show how God is above all gods, when he speaks of the idols made by human hands, which become their gods. The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; eyes they have, but they do not see; they have ears but they do not hear; nor is there any breath in their mouths. Those who make them are like them; so is everyone who trusts in them. Psalm 135: 15 – 18. Let us bless the Lord, all who know the Lord and fear Him. Let us give loud, bold witness to a God who is alive, willing and able to help every single person who makes Him their altogether, forever Lord and Master.
All who are children of our Father in heaven, who are in Jesus and of Jesus, cannot but be pleasing, honourable, true and holy witnesses to a Living Lord. May we never, at any time in our lives, show our God to be as a perfect idol, in what we think, speak and do. Be very sure, that the God whom you worship and serve is not dead, a mummy embalmed with our faithful, prayers, thanks, honouring and revering, in every and any way that brings our delight. Is the Jesus whom I follow, heed and worship, the work of my hands or the work of someone else’s hands? Have you paid strict and keen attention to your present relationship with Jesus? Are you living with Jesus, as your highly spiced and richly embalmed mummy, so that your relationship is deceitfully skewed? Are you the person who manipulates and tweaks the Word of God, to suit your fancies or frustrations?
The psalmist reminds us of the utter folly of the gods many of us make unto ourselves, as too often, the deceiver tricks us and teaches us how to make gods, idols and images likeness to that which is in heaven above. The command of God is this. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in the heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Exodus 20: 3 – 4. The clever devil sees you and me, followers of God, and servants of our Risen Lord and King, Jesus, and keeps us happy and proud in our service and worship to God. You see, the deceiver will not encourage and persuade us to make images of earthly creations, e.g. cows, and goats and people even. But he teaches us how to quietly make them of God Himself, in Jesus, so we live with a Jesus who has eyes, ears and a mouth alright, but He does not always see, hear or speak when we come to Him. O no! That is not me! Such a statement can’t be levied at me! Can’t it?
For the brave of heart and those who refuse to live under the deceiver’s tutelage, we shall continue this most exposing path. This is not for the proud and self-righteous, neither is it for the frail and faint-hearted. This is for all who want to know the truth, as it is the truth that sets all of us free.
