On this first day of the week, called Sunday, a day when many still worship the One True God and Father of us all, we are being reminded of the sun as a star in the heavens. This star, called the sun, is unwearyingly, unwavering and unselfish in its shining. This huge sun, or star in the heavens, high above us, reaches down to the lowest, with its radiant, transforming and accenting, shining light.

Today, on this Lord’s Day Sunday, we are drawn to Jesus, Son of God and Son of Man, as the Star from heaven, who has come to us, here on earth. Do you remember what Jesus has said about Himself? I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star. Revelations 22: 16. Jesus, Son of God and Son of Man, is not just a star but the One, Bright, Morning Star. Of this star, it was prophesied, I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel. He will crush the foreheads of Moab, the skulls of all the people of Sheth. Numbers 24: 17. It is this Bright Morning Star who will perform all this and more for us, who live in His light and walk in His wisdom.  

What a privilege we have to be able to know life in Jesus, who is Messiah, Christ! What deep hope and joy we have, in knowing that we do not ever have to live in any kind of darkness, because He promises to be with us, guarding and guiding us. It is Jesus, Light of the world, who has taught His disciples and you and me, how to pray. In His teachings, He has taught us to look to our Father in heaven to deliver us from evil. Be it known, when we are taught to ask for daily delivery of evil, we are delivered from all kinds of evil; evil in all its devious forms and fashions.

This Jesus, who has taught us and still teaches us to pray to our Heavenly Father, to deliver us from all evil, whether from without or within, continues to be our light of truth. When Jesus, whom we serve, worship and adore, came down from heaven, to be with us on earth, He left the bright glory and inexpressible splendour of the higher region, to come down to this lower region. He came into the perfect degradation and darkness of a sinful world, knowing all that would befall Him, yet in love He still came.

Indeed, the Son of Man came among us, our example, pattern and great reward. He came, calling sinners to repentance and offering them Kingdom life, right here on earth, in Him and through Him. In him was life, and the life was the light of all mankind. John 1: 4. Our Lord is indeed life and all who live according to His pattern and example, walk in His light and no other light. It is through His Shining, Transforming, Accenting and Radiating light, that we are saved from any other shining lights, which come to deceive us.

During this week, we shall be listening to, and seeing how our Lord, the Son of Man, is keeping us from the deceitful, cunning of evil, which comes to us as light, wisdom, knowledge and divine illuminations.
