Final Lord's Day Sunday 2025

On this final Lord’s Day Sunday for both a month and for all twelve months in the year, O how numerous thoughts rush through our minds! O how different waves of feelings touch the heart and soul. It is a time when fears, seen and unseen, known and unknown, come with formidable force to bring all kinds of injurious forces to take us down.

No one is exempt from these attacks, for Satan and his angels are busy at work in full, agitated, desperate and regrouped force. O yes indeed, the devil has angels, as is clearly documented for us in Revelation 12: 9. So the great dragon was cast out, the serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Be wise! Understand this. For the past week, we have been with our Lord, being illuminated by His faith-strengthening, hope-lifting, trust-renewing and spirit-quickening words. We were all made brightly shining lights, and still stand as our Lord’s living, renewed and refreshed lights, as no doubt, those privileged shepherds were. Like them, we have seen, heard, learnt and been made more divinely different. Like them, we cannot keep what we have received to ourselves, because selfishness or even self-centeredness, is not a burning light in us. Like the shepherds, after our Advent illuminating experiences, we want to publicize, to tell all whom we meet, about King Jesus, born in our hearts and who is still waiting to be born in many hearts.

We too are assured of the Holy Spirit to also give plenty produce, through His perfect confirmation that people who hear us and see us, as we are made powerful witnesses to the Gospel, will also marvel and be moved to give their surrendered lives to Christ Jesus. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told to them concerning this Child. And all who heard it marvelled at those things which were told to them by the shepherds. Luke 2: 17 – 18.

As believers, privileged to receive from the Lord Himself, through His Active Word, in whichever forms He has chosen to light up in us, we also have been giving thanks, glory, honour and praise to God for all that we have received. Like the shepherds, we are no longer at the manger in a stable, but we have returned and face the life before us in reenergized spirit and unconquerable truth. This is so, because we too have heard and seen, carrying full assurance of a Saviour born to us. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them. Luke 2: 20.

Friends, these are the last four days before the year ends. What’s so special about this time? Myriads of things are special, but this much I know, through our Lord. While you and I are rejoicing and celebrating the fulfilment of prophecy, in our Saviour’s first Advent, and while we are glorifying and praising God for Him being born in our hearts, we must never forget that the enemy is peeved and displeased.

Do you really believe that the devil will relax and allow you and me to be without his attacks from all angles, to extinguish our lights, cast shadows and fears over us and bring us down as deflated beings? Keep ever in focus that this is the end of a year and I can assure you that neither Satan, nor his workers, who occupy the earth in great numbers, will allow us to end this year as victorious people, without a desperate fight. We soar in the brilliant Light of Advent, but he can make us crash-land in the dark, demonic blackness of despair. O yes, he has the authority and cunning, to try his hardest, in this end of this year time, so that we begin a New Year, weak, sick, battered, bruised and totally defeated in body, mind and spirit. The treacherous, underhand, viciously shrewd deceiver, has four full days, today and three more days, to get us to end this victorious year in defeat, as he wages wars through some deviously deadly subtleties.

Trust me on this one. That sly spirit is not coming with anything that we can think of or imagine. He is not coming with what, for us, speaks, feels or looks like huge, important life-dreading matters. No! He is coming with what we do automatically and think absolutely nothing of it.

We need the power, guidance and protection of our father in Heaven.

Our Father in Heaven, lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from all evil, please, as we know the enemy does not want us to end this year, victoriously in You. As he tempts us Father, deliver us each time, through Your faithful, powerful and ever ready, Living Word. We thank You for hearing us, through Jesus Christ, Your Son and our Wonderful Saviour. Amen!
