Welcome to 2026, as God has given us entry.
It is God who holds all time in His Hands. It is He who has brought us to this new time, new season, new year. Like the psalmist, we confess with undefiled tongues, God is Lord!
But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD; I say, You are my God. My times are in Your hand. Psalm 31: 14 – 15a.
Today, snuggled inside the ending of an Old Year, is the beginning of a New Year. In the same trail that brought the death of one year, comes the birth of another. In the same path that transported away the closing of one year, there is the transporting to us of the opening of another year.
We begin God’s generous gift of 2026, with visible facts about our God and His unalterable power and authority. Every single one of us reading this has experienced the closing of a year and the opening of another. This is all God’s doing. May we truly know, just as we all have experienced the changes spoken of, pertaining to the Old Year and the New Year, this miraculous power in our lives also. God can and will take your old and make it new. He can make what is dead in you, alive again. Indeed, He can bring these changes and more. He is Almighty God!
Will you agree with me on this undeniable reality? Regardless of how this year has started for you, whether bright and sunshiny; dull and stormy; good health or poor health; well-fed or hungry; with all things or with nothing; we are all standing in the year two thousand and twenty-six. God has favoured you to be among the generation of people who have been brought over from 2025 to 2026. God has been gracious, generous and altogether faithful to you.
As we have crossed the threshold into this New Year, and stand on its first day, I invite you to share these precious and privileged first three days, as introductory days. These three Introductory Days, or ID days, as I refer to them, call upon you and me to identify ourselves in different settings, all very personal and private.
On this first Introductory Day, thinking of and processing all that was previously said and all that have been stirred up in us, our ID is Personal Prayer. Look again at what God has done for you, as you stand on this first day. Will you share this prayer also to Sovereign God? Will you fall before Him, in humble acceptance of His undeserved goodness and mercies? I offer you this heart prayer. Will you make it your Personal Prayer also?
Personal Prayer
Father, on this first day of the year,
Of this privilege, I am aware,
I bow before You in holy fear,
Without You I’d be, I know not where,
But Your precious Love, so rich, so dear,
Has brought me to this another year,
Thank You Lord, who can with You compare?
I live only Your grace to declare,
Whatever days to me You do spare,
Ere days are stormy or they be fair,
I know that You will always be there,
Your Love is present, true and sincere;
O, that for one such as I You care!
O, that You deign to draw me so near,
I come and give my life without spare,
For faithful service Lord, me prepare.
Amen!
