Inscription

Just as with the coin of Caesar, we come with ready hearts and minds to receive. Without any explanations or other formalities, we go straight into our three facts.
1. The Word of our Sovereign God, carries two sides – the head and the tail, the beginning and the end, the first and the last, the Alpha and the Omega – for no matter how the Word is twisted and turned, it shows one true fact. The Word belongs to no other sovereign, but our Sovereign God.
2. The Word carries a portrait and an inscription. The only Portrait and Inscription belong to God. In other words, it does not carry God’s Image and Likeness and another leader’s inscription. It does not occur in the reverse either. The Word belongs to no other Sovereign, but God.
3. The Word carries in it, what is indelible. God is the Person who remains there irremovable, as the Word is totally His. His portrait and inscription so seal it for God, that even if the Word were all covered in mud, grime, and filth; even if it were totally painted over or marked up, so that it has become unrecognizable and unidentifiable, it will still be the indelible Word of God. With deep cleaning, the portrait and inscription come to light again. The Word belongs to no other Sovereign, but God.
Remember, this fallacy comes from those who have strayed away from the truth and say that, the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some. Additionally, since it is impossible to please God, follow Him, worship Him, serve Him and receive and live His promised abundant life, without faith, to destroy faith is fatal.
I use the word, fatal, for if at all you know how gangrene operates, you will know why the word fatal is appropriate. You know that anything that is gangrenous will lead to loss of limb, whether big or small limbs and can and will eventually lead to death, if untreated. Paul warns that the words, the teaching, all the lives that they are impacting with their lies about the Resurrection of Jesus, will spread as gangrene. These lies are built to destroy people’s faith, not build up faith.
As heavy and harsh as this word is, it is needed, for God knows how easy it is for us to brush things aside, and think nothing about saying and making frivolous comments about the Word. He knows how comfortably, many of us can engage in idle talk and not even have a conscience twitch or tug about it. I thank God for this moment, where I can see what displeases Him and seek His forgiveness. Where are you my friend?
Our minds are once again drawn to our Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent, Sovereign Lord God and His inscription. We are zeroing in on the inscription and see if there isn’t the portrait or image of God Himself in it. Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: The Lord knows those who are his, and Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness. 2 Timothy 2: 19.
Immediately, we are shown two things written. In the same way Jesus asked to show Him a coin belonging to Caesar, so too, being held up to us, is a Word or coin if you like, belonging to God. Jesus took the coin and on it, He pointed to two indelible things, the portrait of Caesar and inscription of Caesar. Likewise, with this Word of God, the Spirit is pointing out for us two indelible facts, the Portrait of God and the Inscription of God. The portrait and inscription indicate, unquestionably so, that the coin is Caesar’s. In similar manner, the Portrait and Inscription on what is of God, unquestionably and unarguably bear testimony to the fact that it belongs to God.
What are the two indelible inscriptions, you ask? They are:-
The Lord knows those who are His.
Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.
By indelible, I mean that which is ineradicable, ineffaceable and inexpungible. It is what is permanent and lasts forever. Is it that this inscription, with its two sides, carries these descriptions?
We shall continue to examine them tomorrow.
