Abiding In Prayer

On this precious Lord’s Day Sunday, we come expectantly, yet not quite sure of what we are to expect. We come, some of us, happy for our Good Shepherd who is able and faithful to keep all whom His Father has given to Him, safe and happy. Others of us have come with unknowing hearts and minds, dogged with uncertainty as to whether we could turn out to be the one doomed for destruction. Yes, we come with hearts and minds filled with different things. However, we are sure of this one thing. Every single believer is given the same opportunity of abiding in the Lord and with the Lord.

It is because of a Saviour, who so wants His flock to know and grow in Him and be like Him that He is pleased at every turn, to remind us of the Comforter. He is the Paraclete, whom the Father has already sent to us, to do His mighty works in us, for us, with us and through us. He is the One who teaches us all things we ought to know. He is the One who brings wisdom to His own and is always there to assist us. He is the One who makes us hear the Word of Father God and makes us hungry to feed on His Word.

On this privileged Lord’s Day, this leading day of an entire week, we lift our hearts and minds in nothing but thanks and praise to God. Will you make this simple prayer your personal heart-prayer to Father God? Will you pray?

Lord, I heard Your Word and I wait on You to grant me all that I am able to learn in You. Thank You for learning. Thank You for Your willingness to teach me. Thank You for the excitement of wanting to learn under You. Father, I hear Your people saying that prayer is exciting and that those who know the privilege, power and promise of prayer, can’t wait to come to You in prayer. Father, I confess that I hunger and long for that experience, that life in You and with You. Father, I have a little idea though, for You have let me know the excitement of learning from You, being taught by You. O Father, Holy God, Teacher, and Spirit Divine, You put excitement in my entire being and a deep thirst and hunger to learn from You in this hour. Thank You for Jesus. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit. Thank You, for I know that even before I begin to listen, I will not leave this week as I came. Holy Father, just to know that You have called me to this learning time, is beyond me. Thank You Lord, I receive all. Amen!

We come tomorrow ready and prepared to receive more on abiding, as promised.
