Feasting
Let’s spend this privileged time, in these offerings for this week, every dear and precious moment, receiving grace, through Christ Jesus, acknowledging, in heart-driven joy and peace, truths which really cannot truly be expressed or contained.
With ever receiving grace and mercy, as we are fed God’s Word, we lift our hearts, minds, souls and strength to our Lord, as the Holy Spirit enables us in this blessed week of response.
At this point, we are excitedly led to some powerful verses of one of Charles Wesley’s hundreds of hymns, each rich in spiritually nourishing food. The hymn of response chosen is, ‘Jesus, We Thus Obey’. I say hymn of response, because in these words are our responses to this time of sumptuous feeding. These are the stanzas from which we are feeding.
Thy presence makes the feast;
Now let our spirits feel,
Thy glory not to be expressed,
Thy joy unspeakable.
With high and heavenly bliss,
Thou dost our spirits cheer;
Thy house of banqueting is this,
And Thou has brought us here.
Now let our souls be fed
With manna from above,
And over us Thy banner spread,
Of everlasting love.
We are responding to many truths, which must be in operation in our lives, if indeed we know the Abiding Holy Spirit. Among all that we are responding to, here are a few, which I know we all share in common.
Jesus’ Presence, is the single source of our sumptuous feeding and the sole reason for our limitless food.
Jesus’ Presence, in and through His Holy Spirit, is the trusted enabler, who quickens our spirits and makes us one in Him, so that our spirits feel inexpressible glory and unspeakable joy.
Jesus’ Presence, with undeniable and unmatched heavenly peace and solace, lifts our spirits, so that we are removed from any state of deadness, luke-warmness, docile-ness or any such apathetic conditions.
Jesus’ Presence, makes the house or place of unimaginable, unlimited eating, and He is the Person who not only invites us to come and dine, but He Himself brings us to this place of feasting.
Jesus’ Presence is Spiritual food. We, simple mortal, earthly beings, are being fed food which comes directly from above. We are feasting on heavenly food. Additionally, as we are fed this heavenly food, God’s banner of everlasting love is spread over us all.
But how is this banner of eternal love spread? How do we know this covering, over us?
Tomorrow, we continue our feasting, as we feed without prejudice, on our Lord’s heavenly food.
