Second Binding Meditation

We have prayed with St. Patrick, binding unto ourselves most tightly, the attributes of the Three in One and One in Three. We are ever mindful that this is our breastplate in our time of asking, seeking and knocking in supplication, as we look to God for His Divine protection. We are conscious of all that will come to weaken faith, steal faith and make faith as folly to us who believe in the Lord. On our own, we cannot ward off the attackers, but we believe that the prayer of faith can and will be heard by God and provide a breastplate of protection against viciously attacking foes.
Indeed! We are making St. Patrick’s breastplate ours, as we too cling to our faith, in this time of believing. As St. Paul encourages the Church at Ephesus, to be well armoured for fierce, ongoing warfare, may we also heed and do. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place. Ephesians 6: 14.
We carry on in faith, in this second binding meditation, having bound unto ourselves facts about our Triune God.

I bind unto myself today the power of the great cherubim,
The sweet “well done” in judgment hour, The service of the seraphim:
Confessors’ faith, apostles’ word, Patriarchs’ prayers, the prophets’ scrolls,
All good deeds done unto the Lord, And purity of virgin souls.

Today, we are unreservedly chanting, praying, repeating this prayer in belief that God has heavenly servants, as well as earthly servants. We are ever mindful of this living fact, each time we pray the prayer of faith taught by Jesus; the Prayer we affectionately call, The Lord’s Prayer or The Family Prayer. Jesus said to His disciples. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Matthew 6: 9 - 10. After being taught to declare that we have a Heavenly Father, we are taught to acknowledge that He is Sovereign Lord in heaven and on the earth, where His will is to be done. Does this not bring us to ever growing consciousness, that if God’s will is to be carried out, to be obeyed in heaven, then there must be heavenly dwellers? It stands to reason that God has created celestial beings who serve Him in heaven. The prayer of St. Patrick, evidences this fact and includes all this knowledge in his prayer for protection.
Acknowledgement of the Sovereignty of the Godhead
I bind unto myself in this hour, the Sovereignty of Almighty God, through His faithful servants in heaven and on earth, where His will must be done. Great and Mighty Sovereign God, in His immaculate wisdom, has chosen to give power, not only to His celestial beings, but His earthly beings as well.
The one who is praying, calling on God’s help, is not slow in naming all the Lord’s attendants, in a power prayer of faith. St. Patrick is not just naming or listing servants of God, above and below, but faith allows us to note how clear this believer is on God accepting the services and works of His servants on earth, as He does those in heaven.
Heavenly workers – The celestial beings are named in:-
The power of the great cherubim.
The sweet, well done, in judgment hour.
The service of the seraphim.
Earthly workers – The earthly works are acknowledged in: -
The Confessors’ faith.
The Apostles' creed.
The Patriarchs’ prayers.
The Prophets’ writings.
Then the one who is praying, places all the works done by both heavenly and earthly servants of God, as good deeds done unto the Lord. He confers on them all, the holiness, sincerity, honesty and purity of them all, as virgin souls in God.
Let me share with you how I had some real turmoil within, when I was told to place the, well done in judgment hour, under the heading of Heavenly workers or servants. I distinctly heard that Jesus was an angel. Of course, I was quick to dismiss what I was hearing as of the deceiver, however, I was made to stop and ponder a few things which I need to share.
Like many, I have always wondered about incidents in the Old Testament when the name angel and the name Lord, seem to be used interchangeably. I shall cite two of several instances. With Moses, we read this. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. Exodus 3: 2a. Then in Exodus 3: 4a, we read this. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush. Again, having gone to Hebrews Chapter 1, new sights and insights were given to me.
How are you with this chapter that speaks of Jesus as God’s Son? The first thing I was led to have clear in my mind is that this is about the Son of Man, the incarnate Jesus. Many things have been stated in this chapter, but these two are sufficient to bring us to divine truth. Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. Hebrews 1: 3 – 4. Now we listen to this. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Hebrews 1: 9
I leave us to ponder such mystical and divinely astounding truths.
