More Attributes Of Our God
We continue listening to the twenty-four elders who were all, dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads. Revelation 4: 4b. Note their humility, reverence and deference, to their Lord and God, as they, fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being. Revelation 4: 10 – 11.
Remember, these elders know respect for God and worship Him as the Lord. They have also given the same might and merit to His glory, honour and power – no distinction in praise. Now we follow, as they hold the Lord God high, as Creator. They are worshipping and speaking of God, who is not just Creator, but Creator of all things. For you created all things, is what they have said about God, and we too must know this fact. Notwithstanding, we carry in our heads and hearts that there are somethings created, which God has not created.
The question within, which I want to keep quietly to myself, deals with evil. Surely, the Lord God did not create Satan and all his evil ways. I believe that when the Lord created the earth and all therein, it was good. God saw all that he had made and it was very good. Genesis 1: 31a. Certainly, if indeed God created all things, is there another creator to create Satan and his evil ways? If this is a point of unease and unrest in us, then how can we worship the Lord God, following after the twenty-four elders, who speak of God being the Creator of all things?
Certainly, God did not create sin, which finds residence in our wicked and evil hearts. And whether we want to see our fallen states as depraved, as the Scriptures paint us, what is spoken about our hearts is gospel. The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? Jeremiah 17: 9. The Supremacy of God as Creator, must never be compromised, nor must it confound us. If, because you have not witnessed a forest of trees with leaves all yellow, brown, orange and red, as all you know and have experienced are forests of trees with green leaves, will you live in disbelief and unbelief of the fact of brightly coloured forests? This is how we each must come to the fact that God, and God alone, is the Creator of all things. Any doubts and unbelief will hinder our worshipping, in Spirit and in truth. Not only that, but it makes us stunted, impotent and incapable of moving higher in worship. Our prayers of adoration, praise, honour and glory are then dead to God.
These twenty-four do not just acknowledge God as the Creator of all things, but they raise their praise higher, as it were, with these highly elevating and most exalting words. By your will they were created and have their being. Everything was created by the will of God, so that no other will is given precedence above, or over, the One Omnipotent. It is imperative therefore, that we honour the Lordship and Supremacy of Creator God in all fullness and truth. Again, I emphasize, that because something is beyond my comprehension, because I have not experienced it, or because it does not compute in my estimation, according to my calculations, reasoning and understanding, does not mean that whatever it is, is untrue or impossible.
Will you ponder for a while on this, in the sure knowledge that our heavenly Father does not want any of His children to live in ignorance? If, sadly, that be the case, then our worship to Him will also be in ignorance of who He is.
