On this final day of the week, a week which marked several new beginnings for many people, directly and indirectly; we all have come by grace and grace alone. Through the Teaching, Leading and Working Holy Spirit, we have been compelled to give up our fickle hearts, warped minds and selfish wills, to our Brother Jesus. We have been recognizing the Right Hand of God, Just Right and fitting for us, as most efficiently and graciously, He has been Writing, Pointing, Striking, Lifting, and Healing. Having taken care of all those with His efficient Right Hand, we note that there is one more action that God wants to do.

However, before we come to it, let’s listen to our given text.

And Joseph said to His brothers, Please come near me. So they came near. Then he said: I am Joseph your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life. For these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are still five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting. And God sent me before you to preserve a posterity for you in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and Lord of all his house, and ruler throughout all the land of Egypt. Hurry and go up to my father, and say to him, Thus says your son Joseph: God has made me lord of all Egypt; come down to me, do not tarry. Genesis 45: 4 – 9 NKJV

We now come to the final stanza of the hymn.

The right hand of God is planting in our land, planting seeds of freedom, hope, and love. In these Caribbean lands, let people all join hands, and be one by the right hand of God.

PLANTING

The sixth and final action work of God’s Right Hand is planting. What planting is Joseph doing? Listen to these words of his to his family. Hurry and go up to my father, and say to him, Thus says your son Joseph: God has made me lord of all Egypt; come down to me, do not tarry. Indeed, it is clear that Joseph wants all his family with him, where he is. There is to be no delay. Of the many things he is planting, is the seed or idea of urgency. There is to be no tarrying. He is also planting the seed of faith and trust. Joseph is in a foreign place, a country to which he does not belong, yet God has favoured him and made him lord of all Egypt, so that his family will be safe in a strange and foreign place, only because of him. Here are some really testing facts about each believer, as you meditate on these precise words. You know the entire facts surrounding Joseph’s life and how he ended up in a foreign place as a slave, sold for twenty pieces or shekels of silver.

  • Do you believe that God’s Right Hand, His Just Right and Fitting Hand planted Joseph into the hands of those Midianite merchants?

  • Do you believe that God’s Right Hand, His Just Right and Fitting Hand planted Joseph into the hands of Potiphar, in Egypt, a high-ranking official of Pharaoh?

  • Do you believe that God’s Right Hand, His Just Right and Fitting Hand planted Joseph into the bosom of Pharaoh, who entrusted him to be lord of all Egypt?

Whatever your responses to each of these, they will inform of your belief in the Planting Hand of God. Peter, whom Jesus changed and to whom was given the keys to the kingdom, informs us this. Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 1 Peter 1: 23.

The Right Hand of God is planting the seeds of His Word, in all who will obey and receive His Son, Jesus.

Our Brother Jesus does not belong to this world of darkness, yet God has made Him LORD. He is forever planting in our minds and hearts seeds of faith and trust in Him, as He lets us know that we can live abundant lives in Him and with Him. Do you believe?

Then tarry not, but come to where He is, the place of faith and trust, so that you can take Him at His Word.
