A Boost Of Energizing Love
We have come to the final Lord’s Day Sunday in our Lenten walk, with Jesus, before we traverse the week so aptly known as Holy Week. We have come a long way by God’s Almighty, Sovereign Grace. We have not just been mindful of Spiritual help, but we have felt, seen, tasted, heard and truly known the guiding, guarding Presence of God the Holy Spirit.
Individually and collectively as the Church, the Body of believers, we have had times of weariness, confusion, unsureness, questioning, self-examining and wondering whether or not God, our heavenly Father, had been pleased with us, and whether or not we would be allowed to continue. Notwithstanding, our heavenly Father has brought us through to this time and we are even more fixed and focused on Him.
Are you sharing this tingling, unrestrainable, uncontainable grace of receiving, as I am? O what absolutely deep, quiet, confident joy, there is, being spread about in my heart, mind soul and strength! Are you also experiencing what is similar? What a distinct change takes mastery of our entire being, as faith gradually, but firmly, with undoubted sureness and unwavering firmness, is swelling each heart and mind! You know this, in the same way as you know that you are breathing, that you will be perfectly prepared and kept spiritually fit for the final leg of the walk, The Holy Week Walk.
This is like a runner who has been doing one of those races, where one has to go jump over hurdles, surmount high terrain, wade through rivers, crawl under crevices and such like. The final stretch to the finish line is in sight, and at that final pit stop, if you like, you are each offered a refreshing, invigorating drink of water. This is given, not to make one complacent or at ease, but to bolster and boost the runners. It is for them, with the finish line in full view, the line that was not in view before, to ‘throw in the low gear’ as it were. It is for them to see victory ahead and in sight and to grab hold of it.
For five full weeks and days, we have been on such a walk with our Jesus. Only by grace have we been brought to this point, where we can see the Triumphal Week before us.
Be aware! Be warned! Be watchful! Be alert! All the past ploys of the deceiver to de-trail and de-rail you have been unsuccessful. Do you think that he will just give up and count his losses, as he sees that you are almost there to victory with your Jesus? Don’t be naïve! This is the head time when that evil enemy will come to encourage you and me, Jesus’ travelling companions, not to quit, but to take it easy. We will be wooed, in our human weariness, to slow us down, to tell us that it’s okay to sit down and rest, to break a rule or two, not too many, but just a few. This is the time that we must cling to Jesus even more and stick with Him, come what may.
Rest assured that if we seek the Holy Spirit’s assistance, no matter what we need, He will help us. He will aid us, not just in bringing the things of Jesus to us, but He will grant us assistance to persevere and finish this Lenten Walk, in highest honour and resounding victory.
We look forward to this final week, before we are led to Holy Week.
