Confirmation

If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. John 15: 7 - 8

Confirmation – Jesus is always ready and prepared to confirm His words in all who abide in Him. And it shall be done for you. Let’s take a moment to see the pure grace and mercy given to abiders. We who abide in Jesus are sinners, limited people, weak people, ignorant people, who do not know the things of God. However, when we give our lives to Him, to abide in Him and His words abide in us, then we know that it is all through the Holy Spirit that we are kept daily abiding - hearing, seeing, learning and living - in Jesus. Then, and only then, will all that Jesus promises will be confirmed in the abider. Then, and only then, will the abider receive what he or she has asked for in Jesus.

Jesus has openly spoken these words to abiders in Him. He knows our frailty, weakness and utter helplessness, thus He dwells in us in His Holy Spirit. It is in the abiding Holy Spirit, that confirmation of having all that we desire, is given to us.

Can this be related to our granddaughter and me? I thought not, until I was brought to this open reality. With my granddaughter and me, we are speaking of two like people, two frail human beings, but not with Jesus. With Jesus, we have God and human; Creator and created; Immortal and mortal; Infinite and finite; Perfect and imperfect. The covenant promise being made here, to believers abiding in Jesus, must never be seen on equal footing or level standing. Unless we know our unworthy, feeble, helpless state, unless we see ourselves as totally dependent on Jesus, Master and Lord; unless we are totally submissive and surrendered to Him, we will never know the absolutely miraculous and marvellous treasure of peace and victory in Jesus.

Listen to the covenant promise again in this way.

If you abide in Me - The Consideration
And My words abide in you - The Companionship
You will ask what you desire – The Consideration
And it shall be done for you - The Confirmation

Can’t you just see the fully invisible God, expressly visible in His inner works? Can’t you hear Him speaking, teaching, guiding, comforting, correcting and confirming hearts, minds, desires and wills? This is the only way for believers to be disciples of Jesus, bearing fruit unto God.

What does this do to you, when by faith, you receive these stunning facts?

  • It is Jesus who called you to be His disciple. It was not you who called Him to be your Master. How absolutely foolish to act in such a way.

  • It is Jesus who initiated and make this covenant promise with you. It was not you who initiated or drew up the covenant agreement, between yourself and Jesus. How completely self-conceited to even entertain such a thought!

  • It was Jesus who considered you and gave you the privileged grace of coming to Him and asking Him for what you desire. It was not you who considered Jesus and gave Him the privilege of asking you for anything. How utterly ludicrous!

  • It was Jesus who promised that whatever you, who abide in Him, ask for, it will be done for you. It was not you who told Jesus that it will be done for Him, what He wants from you. Can Jesus lack anything that He has to ask you or me to provide it? How singular and stupendously demonic!

  • It was Jesus who gave you all you needed in Him to bear His Fruit. You do not and cannot give Jesus anything to help Him to bear your fruit. Your fruit is carnal fruit. To show any signs of such poisonous, intoxicated madness is of evil!

If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. John 15: 7 - 8
