On this day, we have come by faith, believing and accepting that our feeble lamps have been trimmed and we are being efficient and faithful Salvation Savers for Jesus.

Here is our third Salvation Saver Truth.

Some poor sailor tempest tossed.

So far, our Salvation Saver Truths have pointed us to facts which were foundational and correctional. Today, our Salvation Truth is brought to us as one which is actual. By actual, we mean, not just what is real and true, but what is currently happening at the moment. It’s like this. Right now, in this very moment, while you are reading this meditation, some poor sailor is being tempest tossed.

How do you know this to be true? And I can hear some of you thinking aloud and saying, are sailors the only ones who are tempest tossed? To come to one heart and mind in this understanding of sailor, we take sailor to be anyone, man or woman, Jew or Gentile, free or bond, who is travelling on the sea of life.

How Scriptural is this fact of people needing salvation savers all the time? How actual is it that some poor sailor, at this moment is being tossed about by the merciless tempests of this world’s storms? We shall listen to what Jesus spoke to the righteous about those who were being tossed about by the tempests of this world. Here are some very familiar Bible verses, but will you see them as Jesus speaking of the actual, what transpired, what is transpiring and that which will continue to transpire, as long as this sinful earth remains.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Matthew 25: 35 – 36. Can you see the actual pictures of sailors on the sea of life, as they are tossed by the rough tempests of life? They are tossed by the tempests of hunger, thirst, being strangers, nakedness, sickness and imprisonment. Believe you me, if you do not believe these facts how can you be a ready and saving servant of Jesus?

Look at paramedics for example. They come to work each day with this mind-set. There is a life to save today. These life savers, do not ever wake to a new day of work, thinking there will be not one rescue to be made, On the contrary, they come with a dour determination to save every life in need, regardless of who it is.

How can we be any different? How can we profess to be Christians, followers and lovers of Jesus Christ our Risen Master and Lord, and not live with our trimmed lamps on full beam? To do this is not just to be dishonestly unfaithful and wickedly disobedient but it is to deny good works done to the Lord.

In the Parable told by Jesus about The Sheep and the Goats, from which the above bible quote comes, Jesus speaks quite candidly about the Son of Man, when He comes, separating people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. When the righteous shall ask Him, Lord, when did we do all these good works to You, this will be His reply. Truly I tell you, whatever you do for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you do for me. Matthew 25: 40b.

Fellow disciples of Jesus, do not let your minds stray from this actual fact. Just as every second, a life is taken and another is given life, so too with even those in need of salvation. Every second, there is somebody who is being tempest tossed and unless we know this and believe it to be so, how will we be ready, and active Salvation Savers?

Holy Spirit, You have given me this day. You who have kept me, You and You alone and have brought me to this hour, awaken my heart, mind, spirit and soul to the fact that some poor sailor on this sea of life, is being tempest tossed. Inspire and propel me to keep my already newly trimmed lamp, as a city on a hill, so that all sailors in need of a Salvation Saver, will see and not perish for lack of light. Amen!
