Righteousness

Today, we have come as different people, no longer balking about how unfit and unworthy we are for Jesus’ robe of Righteousness, which, in covenant love, He so freely offered us.

For far too long, the wicked, cunning deceiver had us looking only at our sinful states, showing us all our faults and stains, our sins and guilt. Everything we saw was true, but he kept us blinded to Jesus, the sinless One and His Dying Love for us. Jesus is the Person who saw us, loved us and wanted a relationship with us that would make us become like Him in His Righteousness. He is the One Righteous, the Sovereign, the only Begotten of the Father, who made the first move, the first bold, endearing advancements to you and me, the unrighteous.

Again, we want to proclaim and declare, with unceasing praise: -

A sinner am I of pure wretchedness,
Now Love has clothed me in His righteousness,
Yes I see my sin, guilt and utter shame,
Jesus re-clothed me and gave me His Name.

We have been talking about the princely robe of Jonathan, which he gave to a non-prince, an ordinary shepherd. One of the deeply holding sentiments which I brought to us, was stated in these terms. He took off his worn garment and gave it to David, so that he, David, could take off his worn clothes, and wear Jonathan’s worn garment. The simple understanding is this. Jonathan’s worn garment is simply the garment that he is wearing at the time. Likewise, David’s worn clothes are what he is wearing at the time also. Make no mistake about this therefore, as you understand and accept it in same light.

The worn garment of Jesus – Righteousness - was given to you, so that you could take off your worn garment and wear His worn garment.  Please, may I impress upon your mind that Jesus never gave you His Robe of Righteousness, to take and hang up on a hanger in some cherished clothes closet. It is for you to wear and wear now.

When we listen to Isaiah in his moment, as the rejoicing servant of God, do we not also, as His servants in Jesus, rejoice and speak likewise? I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. Isaiah 61: 10.

Make sure that you are: -

  • Clothed with Jesus’ salvation of Righteousness

  • Covered with Jesus’ robe of Righteousness,

  • Celebrated with Jesus’ bridal ornaments of Righteousness.

Much more is waiting for us tomorrow.
