Consider The Lilies Of The Field

I believe, and faith confirms this belief, that knowing Jesus as we do, when He said consider the field lilies, there were wild lilies around, in view. Remember, they are all seated on a mountainside, and wild lilies would be in full bloom at that time. Can’t you just hear and see Jesus, after stating this question, So why do you worry about clothing, turning around, pointing and drawing their attention to the open expansive fields. Many things are to be seen, many flowers and plants are visible, but Jesus singles out the lilies.
Why does He single out the lilies, not the bluebells, dandelions or any other very likely wild flowers? Why did He not speak about the butterflies and clothing? I honestly do not know.
What I do know however, beyond any doubt, is that our Lord is speaking and granting me hearing ears, seeing eyes, and a hungry mind to receive all that He is saying. I pray the exact thing for you. Why lilies? We are drawn to gaze on Jesus, as the Lily Himself. This is how He presents Himself to us in Song of Solomon 2: 1. I am the rose of Sharon and the lily of the valleys. His likeness to the lily speaks of beauty, simplicity, honesty, serenity and purity.
Be fully mindful and conscious of this, not to be missed, wisdom. Consider the lilies that are in view. You are not considering those lilies that are not in view, those growing in well cultivated gardens, where the works of human hands help to tend them. You are not considering those beautiful lilies that are planted in orderly, well-marked out rows, ordered, styled and colour-coded according to the tastes and desires of the gardener. You are not considering lilies that are confined to home gardens, parks or places of interest. No! Jesus is in the open fields, where nature is raw and unkempt by human will and way. Consider the lilies of the field.
Consider Me, the Lily who is before you, free to be sitting with you on this mountainside. Don’t you know how I live? You know that I have no earthly place to lay My Head, but I have mansions in glory waiting for you to occupy. These are places of beauty which I will prepare, especially for you. You know that I have not got human wealth and riches, but I have resources enough to feed multitudes beyond measure. You know that I do not have the clothes of the rich and kingly, neither in quantity nor quality, but I have a garment which Roman soldiers cast lots for. I had no form of comeliness and when people saw Me there was no beauty that drove them to look upon Me and desire Me, but I am the radiance of the Glory of God. So why do you worry about clothing?
Can’t you also see Jesus sitting there most relaxed and comfortably teaching His disciples, ordinary, unlearned Galileans, people not considered as of much importance by the people of count? No human hands have made Me, no human hands feed and clothe Me. No human Hands keep and protect Me. No human hands can save My life or take My life.
Jesus is as the Wild Lily and so are all His disciples who are following after Him. Wild in terms of not dependent on any human actions, interventions or care, to provide Him with life. He is as free as the wind, to be and do as His Father commands.
