Pray against Adversaries

On this last day of the week and first day of a new month, we climax this eye-opener of a week on Adversaries, with a few facts. They have been plainly, simply and evenly laid out before you. They are all based on the one verse which has been our teaching point. We listen to David again, as we too speak this prayer of petition.

Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and such as breathe out violence. Psalm 27: 12.

This list of facts is, by no stretch of the imagination, a finished list. Many more truths have been planted in us which, by faith and trust as we remain in Jesus, will blossom forth in beauty and splendour.

David is a true believer in God and he has implicit faith in the promises of God, to be his God.
David, because he is God’s faithful serving servant, has many adversaries. These adversaries all stem from David being the Lord’s blessed and empowered servant.
David acknowledges his weakness, compared with the strength of his adversaries. He is not naïve, nor does he carry false aggrandizement in him. He lives on reality and the reality is that the will of the enemy is wretched.
David is not ignorant of the will of his enemies and goes directly to his God to ask Him not to deliver him over to the adversaries. David knows that no enemy can overtake him, unless it’s the will of his God. His prayer is a pleading prayer, for God not to deliver him to the will of his enemies.
David is not living with his head buried in the sand. He knows that he is king, but he also knows that not everyone likes him. He knows that false witnesses have risen up against him and he tells it all to his God.
David has prophets and priests, advisors and wise men in his kingdom, people undoubtedly useful to him. However, not one of them, singly or collectively, can stand in the place of his loving, merciful and caring Father. He goes directly to God with his prayer request.
David’s prayer, which is before us, is one of utter urgency, needing immediate attention. This is a now prayer, since his adversaries are breathing out violence against him. He needs to be kept sheltered by God and not have God expose him to the ravishing of his adversaries, on this occasion.

Believer in God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – you have been permitted by your heavenly Father, God, to face many an adversary. However, in this moment, you are asking not to be delivered to the will of your adversaries.

Father God, please do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and such as breathe out violence. Amen!

Will God hear your prayer, O child of God? O yes, He certainly will. Like His servant and child David, He will grant your request.
