Love Without Hypocrisy - 2

In concluding yesterday’s offering, emphasis was given to these facts. Love can be adulterated by hypocrisy and it can be infiltrated by poisonous pretence. It is imperative that we keep praying to the Holy Spirit to help us to know and to live, love without hypocrisy.

Did you know that without love, we cannot enter the Kingdom of God? We may have a few pieces of righteous clothing, a valid passport, in that we are born again and we may even carry hope and joy in our hearts, but we have no love. This is serious indeed and must be clearly understood. If love is not minus hypocrisy, we will surely be denied entry into the Kingdom.

Ponder this analogy. To be minus money, is to be without currency, cheque book, credit card or any form of money power. Likewise, to be minus hypocrisy, is to be without deceit, dissimilation, divisiveness and any form of hypocritical power. Understanding this in deeper depth, we continue with the second admonition from the text.

Second Admonition - Abhor what is evil.

In the same way the word hypocrisy is not a favoured word, the word abhor is even more shunned in usage. In fact, this word is considered archaic and old-fashioned, and is seldom heard in everyday speech. That being said, I give thanks for the use of this strong word, abhor, for it keeps me ever mindful of how absolutely grave and eternally damning, evil is. Evil is the devil, in fullness. Just as only God is good, for He is the completeness of good and the embodiment of all the attributes of good, so it is with the devil on the opposite side. Satan is evil, for he is the completeness of evil and the embodiment of all the attributes of evil. It is because the devil is evil and every single thing and person who belongs to him is evil that we must abhor all evil.

Jesus, in responding to the manner in which a young man who once addressed Him, said this. Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. Matthew 19: 17b. God is good! Jesus has stated it to be so. Jesus also once spoke these open words to some dissenting Jews, who were gainsaying all that He was speaking. You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. John 8: 44. The devil is evil! Jesus has stated it to be so, thus we are told most candidly His mission against all evil. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3: 8b.

Here are a few meanings of the word abhor. It is deep hatred for something or someone. It is to regard something with extreme repugnance, to detest it vehemently, to totally and thoroughly reject it in any way, form or fashion.  When you abhor something, it stands not a chance with you. Evil is to be abhorred and destroyed. Since, therefore, hypocrisy is evil, it must be hated, detested, fully abhorred, and love be completely free from it. The Bible is clear that God absolutely hates these evils in us. Listen to Proverbs 6: 16 – 19. These six things the LORD hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren. Whether any one or all of these seem wrong to you or not, God abhors every single one of them with the same intensity.

Is there something in you that the Lord abhors? Seek Him straightway! Repent and destroy that abominable evil. God the Holy Spirit will do it in you, if you believe.  

Be genuine before your Father in heaven. He does not tolerate fakes.
