Jesus, Saviour

We all have names and nicknames as well, and no doubt, each name has some meaning attached to it. For example, I know more than one person whose Christian name is Betty. I’m told that it means, Oath of God. There is the name Monica, and it means counsellor or advisor. Here is a common male name, Roger, which means glorious warrior.

I’m sure that your name, if it’s not one of those mentioned, also carries some significant meaning. Do you know what it is? If you do know what your Christian name means, are you living up to its standard and meaning?

On this first day of a new week, the day known as Sunday, we cannot but be reminded that it was on a day like today, a first day of the week, that Jesus rose victorious from the grave. O how Jesus, was declared in Name and Nature. O how, by His most unmatched Name, we are lovingly nurtured and cared for.  We know that the Name of Jesus means Saviour, as was told to Joseph by God’s messenger. And you shall call His Name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. Matthew 1: 21b.

Has Jesus not done just that, to the distinct pleasure of the Father? Let us spend a few moments, considering this Lord’s Day Sunday, holding to the unarguable and undisputed fact that Jesus is the Saviour of the World. He rose on the first day of the week, giving it powerful, life-altering significance, and fullness of Joy. Should not every Lord’s Day Sunday be greeted with the joy of resurrection? Permit me to refresh your hearts and minds with some Bible texts, about Jesus and the first day of the week, giving honour and reverence to all that this day affords to us.  Should not every Sunday, lift the Name of Jesus, before us in unique ways? As you read each Scripture passage, may the Name of Jesus, live and grow ever fuller in you.

Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight. Acts 20: 7. The first day of the week was a day of worship, of breaking Bread, as commanded by Jesus, to do in remembrance of Him. Praise be to God! The Name of Jesus is lifted up on the first day of the week.

Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. Mark 16: 9. Isn’t this most touching and wonderfully precious? There is divine, mystical richness for every single one of us, who is a sinner of the highest order. Jesus may not have lifted you out of your bondage, on the first day of the week. Albeit, He lifted Himself to you on the Lord’s Day Sunday. Thanks and praise be to God! The Name of Jesus is lifted up on the first day of the week.

There is a lot more about the first day of the week that’s written for us and lots more which we have experienced. Today, we have received Jesus, Saviour, whose Name remains forever true and faithful.

During this week, we are in for a time of total splendour and grandeur with the Name of Jesus. We will see what we think we know, in depth of ways which will make us truly repentant, and compel us to seek to know the great richness there is in the Name of Jesus.

On this first day of the week, Jesus, I acknowledge You as Saviour of my life also. Please help me to truly know Your Name in my heart, soul, mind and strength, as Saviour. Let my life, even as I am at this moment, show Your unsurpassed powers. Amen!
