First Work Of God The Holy Spirit

We have been expecting three mighty works of God the Holy Spirit, to find full place in us. They are His: -
Awakening us to truth, within us, that lies dormant.
Accosting us to face truth, in us, that lies buried.
Agitating us to change, that truth may blossom and grow fruit in us, tenfold, fiftyfold and a hundredfold.
Just before we delve into the first of these three, however, I invite you to take this moment to reflect on who David really is. Who really is David?
He is a sinner like you and me, who truly loves his God with his whole heart, soul, mind and strength.
He is a sinner who knows the depths of humility before his God and always remains humble and faithful to God.
He is a sinner, a weak human being, whose faith grew and grew with the years, so that his strength grew and grew with the years also.
He is a sinner who learned to be steadfast and true to his God in times when his life knew abasing and abounding.
David was a person after God’s own heart, so that God could give this testimony about him. It is recorded in Scripture that when God removed Saul, the first king of His people Israel, this is what He did. He raised up David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will. Acts 13: 22. This is the man who is so extremely elated, jubilant and most expressive of his strength. May we truly be able to see truth in us, as David did, to know the same strength within us.
First mighty work of God, the Holy Spirit, to find full place in us.
Awakening us to truth, within us, that lies dormant.
The Lord is the strength of my life.
This comes to us as a wakeup call, an awakening that makes us shake ourselves back into spiritual reality. It’s like the prodigal boy who had come to such a low place, it was unbelievable. This father’s son had come to the place where he was being called to share food and fellowship with swine. And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate. Luke 15: 16a. Then the call came, a trumpet-like call, which awakened him to his senses, and he remembered who he was, whose he was, and what he possessed. He had a living, loving, longing father. Within him, something marvellous happened, and he heard and heeded. He was suddenly awakened to this truth that was lying as something dead within him. How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger. Luke 15:17b. O how this father’s son, was awakened with a jolt. He was now in his right senses.
Doesn’t this call of David jolt you into stark, naked reality, O pitiful child of God? You are a son or daughter of the Lord. This world’s light has seduced and solicited you and though you were quite happy and living it up for a time, it all soon vanished. You are now in a terrible spiritual state and by grace, and only grace, you have been fed this truth. You hear and are able to make this personal declaration yourself, for you know it to be true. The Lord is the strength of my life.
This I know beyond question. Wherever you are, in this moment, whatever your state or condition, you cannot make such a declaration and remain in your dead, spiritual condition. Awakened to this strength that resides within you and which has now been quickened, rise and live your strength in the midst of all that will cause you to become dead to your strength.
You belong to God and He is the Strength of your life.
We keep persevering, as we receive.
