Jesus, Powerful Name

As indicated, our desire is to seek to be reintroduced to the power there is in Jesus, to be remarried to Him in all His unchangeable greatness and to be fully and graciously reinstated to all truth in Him. We desire this in humble penitence, as we seek forgiveness for the ways in which we have become warm, relaxed and even indifferent, to all that we so loyally claim about our Beloved Jesus.

This is what I mean. We say so many good things about Him and are quick to relate them to others, yet we so comfortably live our daily lives without them being evidenced in us. Indeed, for too many of us believers, truths about Jesus have become a mere matter of shadow, void of any substance.

As these facts about Jesus are brought before us, will there be repenting?

The first fact before us, has to do with prayer and praying, and the undeniable power Jesus gives to His servants, who believe in Him. This is the occasion when Jesus was about to leave His disciples in flesh and bones body and return to His Father in heaven. This is what He says to them. And whatever you ask in My Name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask in My Name, I will do it. John 14: 13 – 14.

What has Jesus stated, as a promise to ordinary human beings, like you and me, who believe in Him? What has He told His disciples, people like you, who serve and follow Him? We hear first of all, a distinct, generous, double invitation, in His Name. And whatever you ask in My Name. We are invited to ask and given permission to ask in Jesus’ Name. Straight on its heels we hear, the wide, deep, limitless, whatever. Whatever you ask in His Name, not your name, your shepherd’s name, your friend’s name or even your family’s name. It is in His Name and His Name alone. The Name of Jesus has Power to grant you freedom to ask in prayer.

Jesus goes on to guarantee the response for asking in His Name. That I will do.  Please note the personal pronoun Jesus uses. Ask whatever, in His Name and He Himself will do it. He never included anyone in the giving of the response. He has taken full responsibility for His Name. His Name is power and He cannot but show the power of honesty and of a good report concerning His Name. Jesus has said it, no one else. He will do whatever is asked for in His Name.  Can you see that it’s all about Jesus’ Name?

We take one step forward and receive a most sealing and settling reason why Jesus must be faithful, true and honest about His Name. Think of it! When you ask Jesus for something in His Name, He will do it, not because of you, and not even because of Himself primarily. This is the reason why. That the Father may be glorified in the Son. God the Father is glorified in you and all people who, believing in the Son, call on His Name and pray, through the power there is in the Name of Jesus.

Jesus has always been conscious, mindful and ready to have the Father glorified in Him. Let me bring a couple instances before you. Jesus has said this to all who will follow Him. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. John 15: 7 – 8. God the Father is glorified through you, bearing much fruit in the Name of Jesus. There is power in the Name of Jesus, for carnal beings to bear Spiritual fruit, which glorifies the Father.

We now listen to Jesus, our Pattern in prayer, our Predecessor in prayer, our Promise in prayer and our Power in prayer. He who has guaranteed us of prayer in His Name, so that, the Father may be glorified in the Son, prays for the Father to glorify Him, God the Son, as He glorified Him, God the Father. This is all found in John 17: 1 – 5. As Jesus lifts up His eyes to heaven, He says to the Father, Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You. As the Father glorifies the Son, so will the Son glorify the Father. Jesus then concludes this prayer for Himself, with this request which the Father will do. I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was. Can you see then, more wisdom and power in the Name of Jesus, glorified in Trinity, even before the world was, before you were even conceived, to be born?

O yes! Believe it and access it! There is unimaginable and untold power in the Name of Jesus.
