Attention And Administration

Straightway we jump right into the other three undeniable facts about great faith, faith that makes Jesus marvel to the point of making it public.

Attention of faith – Registering of one’s unworthiness.

Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You.

The attention which the centurion gives to his faith is unmistakable. Note, he does not only recognize his unworthiness, but it is fully registered in his mind. Is it not true that you can recognise a fact or give recognition to it, but still not have it register and take up residence in you? This is what I mean. You can recognise and admit the fact that worry is a killer, as it kills faith and the spirit of faith. Sadly, nonetheless, this truth does not really register in us fully, so that we still worry, in what we are shown as normal, human-expected ways. We see them as small and insignificant as compared with others whose worry is chronic and has them totally bound. The evil one cajoles and convinces us to see worry according to measure, while the Word commands us not ever to worry at all, even in the least thing.

Having understood this, it is the attention we should always have, the attention which is the result of true faith. This attention of faith is never the result of absentmindedness, laziness or forgetfulness, born of self–piety, self-abasement, self-abashment or any kind of human-derived humility. Faith allows you and me to know that we are unprofitable servants, not worthy of any elevated standing. Do you recall what Jesus told His apostles, as He taught them about service, duty, sin and faith? He spoke about a servant doing his duty and whether or not the servant would be thanked for doing what he was told to do. Then He said plainly. So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, We are unworthy servants, we have only done our duty. Luke 17: 10. NIV

As a servant of Jesus, are you considering yourself worthy of the work to which He has called you, forgetting who you are?

Lord keep me mindful, let me not forget,
Although You use me, I’m a sinner yet. Amen!

Having contemplated on two of the four undeniable facts about great faith, faith that makes Jesus marvel to the point of Him  making it all public, we hasten on with the final two.

Administration of faith – Response to Jesus’ Worthiness

But say the word, and my servant will be healed.

This centurion is free, bold and open with his faith, before Jesus. Faith is never ever afraid to show itself. Faith is never ever timid and cowering in its works and words, for it is only dead faith that has no show. Many a believer in Jesus speaks of faith very loosely, but are very hard pressed for accompanying works. Have you really listened to the words of that centurion? Jesus is on His way to his house, to heal his beloved servant. This is a dire situation, a touch and go situation, if you ask me, for the servant is near death’s door.

Just listen to the words of that centurion, who has the Healer on His way to heal his servant. I ask you this. If you know that Jesus is on His way, knowing that healing is guaranteed as Jesus Himself will be there in Person, will you turn and tell Jesus not to bother to come, just speak the word of healing and that would be sufficient? I can assure you that this kind of action, these kinds of words, however you wish to see it, can be nothing less than true faith in Jesus’ authority.

If the administration of something is how you manage it, run it, or work it, then the working of this man’s faith is exactly what pleases Jesus and in turn it must please God and the Holy Spirit. He is responding to the Jewish Rabbi of whom he has heard as one who heals all kinds of diseases and ailments. But look closely at what the administration of his faith shows. Is he not responding to who Jesus is, as a Man of Supreme Power? Will you think of it in this light?

Jesus has the Superior power to heal his servant, when no other power has been able to help him. Has the centurion not responded in faith, to the Omnipotence of Jesus, in having power to heal? Faith always responds to the Omnipotence of Jesus.

Jesus has the Supreme wisdom to know what the ailment of his servant is and do exactly what is right and fitting in this situation. There is no record of anyone apprising Jesus of what the servant’s illness was all about. All that is recorded is that the servant was sick and ready to die. His faith believes in the divine wisdom of Jesus. Has the centurion not responded in faith, to the Omniscience of Jesus, in having wisdom to heal? Faith always responds to the Omniscience of Jesus.

Jesus has Supernatural presence in His Word, for He is the ever present, Living Word, made flesh. Has the centurion not responded to the Omnipresence of Jesus in His Word, regardless of where Jesus is? Faith always responds to the Omnipresence of Jesus.

Are you one who is looking to Jesus to help you in your dire need? Has He said that He will give you your request? Is your faith stable enough to be satisfied with just the Word from Him?

Speak Your Word Lord, whether You’re there or not,
Unwanted spirits will flee, the whole lot.  Amen!

Tomorrow, we complete this solemn, yet most freeing receiving, with the final undeniable fact about great faith.
