Riches In Jesus

We begin this new month and new week and new day, full of our Lord’s riches, and seeking ever to receive more and more, as He is our Heavenly Father who gives His children over and over again of His bountiful riches. Let me share one stanza of a beloved hymn by Annie Johnson Flint, which proclaims with bold assurance, the unbounded love of our Father in heaven.

His love has no limit, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men,
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth and giveth and giveth again.

On this Lord’s Day Sunday, this day which begins a new moment in time - a new week, new hopes, new longings and new experiences - let us turn all our thoughts, our hearts, our minds, our strengths, our weaknesses, our entire faculties upon Father God. Whether we are weak or strong; burdened or eased; sick or well; sorrowful or joyful; in want or in plenty; sinner or saint; turn to Father God, for He is your Loving Father.

In this precious moment, this time which has been given to you by Father God, will you accept the unfathomable bounty, unbelievable beauty and unmerited blessedness we have before us, in the words of this hymn-verse? O! Is this not as a field of unmeasurable spiritual treasure? Before you, me and every single person who by faith will gather up and gather in, in no small measure, are God’s infinite riches, before us, behind us, at the right of us and at the left of us. No matter where we turn, whether there be calm or storm; fighting or peace; trials or ease, we are guaranteed one thing. Our heavenly Father has not abandoned us, for His Love is unfailing.

I am constrained, with full, yet free heart and heavy, yet happy mind, to lay before you the truths of that verse which are yours and mine, right now. These are not what we have to wait for, pray about, long for, or even ask for. These are like the very breath you breathe that is already in your body, thus you are breathing what is already there, living life. In like manner, all these truths about the attributes our Heavenly Father, placed openly exposed before you, are already yours and mine. These are not just nice, hopeful words of a believer in God, who is being kind and encouraging to us, while we remain in our darkness and gloom. These are not beautiful, but weightless sentiments, which lift the spirits, but life remains empty of their truth. These are not, I can assure you, wholesome Christian talk which massage hearts and minds, to be energized for the moment, only to continue in life, without the abundance of Jesus’ promised life.  Yes, these have been listed for you, to alert you to present truths in your living and being.

  • The love of our heavenly Father is limitless. Why are you living with limited love?

  • The grace of our heavenly Father is measureless. Why are you walking with measured grace?

  • The power of our heavenly Father is boundary-less. Why are you living in the confines of sin’s boundaries?

  • The riches of our heavenly Father are finite-less. Why are you living in this world’s finite hold of misery, poverty and fears?

  • The giving of our heavenly Father is ceaseless. Why are you living as though you are an orphan, a beggar of the world, when your Father’s giving, faithfully goes on, again and again?

Heavenly Father, I know that I am Your child. I know that You have not abandoned me, for I am given privilege to come before You even now. Nevertheless, I confess Father that my life right now does not bear testimony to who You are to me. I still live like as a spiritual vagrant and Father forgive me, and spur me back to who I must be in Christ Jesus. Father, through Your ever abiding Holy Spirit, let me live, love without limit; grace without measure, power without boundary, riches in Jesus without ceasing and Your unequal giving, ceaselessly flowing. Amen!

Our Father’s infinite riches in Christ Jesus, come in a variety of ways, some akin to our tastes and some not akin to our liking. Nevertheless, faith allows us to take all that our Father gives to us, for it is always and only ever to our good.

This week we shall be receiving some very different riches from our Father in heaven.
