Third Light Of Wisdom

Having looked at the first two lights differently, totally needed lights of pure wisdom, we now address the third one.
The third especially different light of illumination
May we know what this new doctrine is of which you speak?
The Epicurean and Stoic philosophers have heard Paul speaking in the public place, as some of those who happened to be there. Are you hearing it clearly? This marketplace is a place where all kinds of people are to be found and that is the singular reason for Paul going to the market place. You see, in a synagogue, church, mosque, or any such religious place, one expects to find one type of mind. On the other hand, in a marketplace, a secular place, one expects to find all kinds and conditions of minds.
Remember, philosophers are speaking to Paul about his presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Crucified and Risen.
Remember, this presenting of the Living Gospel was not witnessed to in any religious, holy or godly setting, as it were. It was witnessed to in a secular place, a non-religious and unholy place, so to speak.
The statement can verifiably be made without suspicion or correction, that Paul took his preaching or presenting of the Gospel of Jesus, to a place for which many a lawfully minded person would not deign to go.
It is in what these scholars want to know that we have valid proof of the honesty, sincerity and faithfulness of Paul to his Lord and Master. They want to know, what this new doctrine is of which you speak. Reeling across my mind, in type-writer style showing, are these words of Samuel to Saul, in his disobedience to God. Saul, king of God’s people at the time, was blatantly disobedient and vexingly rebellious against God’s commands. When Saul was trying to make excuses, pleading his want to make sacrifices to God, Samuel spoke with the sharp tongue of the cutting authority of the Lord. Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice and to heed than the fat of rams. 1 Samuel 15: 22
They never wanted to know of Paul’s reason for being in their great city of Athens, for Paul spent no time on that. It was not what God had called him to do. They only wanted to know of the Word they heard Paul preaching, because he was faithful in spending his time preaching to them of Jesus and the Resurrection.
They never wanted to know of Paul’s hostile experiences by some Thessalonicans, and how they made him a fugitive, because he never spent precious time, recounting his experiences. They only wanted to know of the Word they heard Paul speaking, because he was obedient and true in speaking to them of Jesus and the Resurrection.
They never wanted to know of Paul’s other companions and why he was there alone, neither did they want to know where he was heading. They only wanted to know of Word they heard Paul demonstrating and proving, because he was true to the authority and power given to him, to be a living witness to Jesus and the Resurrection.
When, as our Lord’s witnesses, His lights, His vessels, powered by the Gift of His Holy Spirit, we present Him in spirit and in truth, even the most curious minds will ask only about what they are hearing and seeing at the given time of presentation.
God grant each of us perfectly hearing ears, seeing eyes, submissive hearts and teachable spirits. Amen!
And they took him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine is of which you speak? Acts 17: 19.
