Would Jesus ...

Today, some rhetorical questions are brought before you, each stanza asking, ‘Would Jesus..?’  These have been purposely, deliberately, and wisely brought to you in this form for three reasons.

The first is that when you read and hear each question, the accompanying response comes straightway out of you, without effort. Our given Holy Spirit, is He who reminds us of all things, enabling us to hear and remember these words of our Jesus.  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10: 10 KJV

The second is that as you read and see the imagery, so vividly painted by every single word, each question becomes a pillar of strength and surety, all enabled by our Holy Spirit. We are given eyes to see Jesus as our Good Shepherd, who never lets any lost sheep stay lost, as preached in His parable. What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? Luke 15: 4 KJV

The third is ever so comforting, consoling and fully encompassing. Jesus is brought to us, as Father, Shepherd and Friend, but does it not draw you down, in the depth of surrender to Jesus, when He sweetly and gently calls you His own? When you read, and our Holy Spirit gives you sure knowledge that you are His, because He has claimed you and not that you have claimed Him, you are left with no choice but that of ungrudged submission.  In talking about His own, this is what Jesus says.

And I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish, nether shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them to me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one. John 10: 28 – 30 KJV

 WOULD JESUS…

Would Jesus have His children die?

And not hear when to Him they cry?

Would He not have the Father’s ear?

His children’s pleading voice to hear?

Would Jesus let His lost sheep stray?

And not long for their return day?

Would He not leave the secure fold?

His sheep to seek, to find, to hold?

Would Jesus know His friends are lost?

And regard or count the cost?

Would He not forget self and pride?

His friends to have back at His side?

Would Jesus have His own not know

How very much He loves them so?

Would He not wait their voice to hear

His own, His named, His loved ones dear?

Would Jesus have His children fall,

And not care about them at all?

No! Jesu’s Love would seek and save,

To snatch you from your deepest grave.

Amen!

For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Luke 19: 10
