Viewing More Lucrative Ground

Having explored the lucrative ground of Psalm 37 and secured a pile of Admonitions, we continue our diligent, Spirit-guided seeking.
Words of Acquisition – In this pile, we are heaping up, with fear and repentance, all that the wicked ones will acquire. These are what they are destined to receive at the Hands of a Just and Righteous God. O what a dark, dismal and scary heap this is! But O, how it can be used to turn many of us back to God and seek His forgiveness. Remember, David is not talking things that he has been told about. He is not just speaking what he has read about. O no! Such is the calamity he has witnessed happening to the wicked, all who persist in their own ways and refuse to repent and follow God’s ways. Such is his own personal experience of a Just and Holy God, who does not delight in sin and will not abide by it. Such is his experience also, of the God who knows and receives the repentant heart, the experience of a God who never yet refused to forgive the penitent sinner from his or her wicked ways.
This then is about evil doers.
1. They will soon be cut down like the grass.
2. They shall wither like the herb.
3. Evil doers will be cut off.
4. The wicked shall be no more, in just a little while.
5. The evil doer’s place will be removed by God.
6. The place of the evil doer won’t be found. Regardless of how carefully you look, you won’t find it, for it shall be no more.
7. The Lord laughs at the wicked, when He sees how the wicked one plots against the just and gnashes with his teeth, for the Lord sees that his day is coming.
8. The sword of the wicked shall enter their own heart, and their bows shall be broken, when they have drawn the sword and bent their bow to cast down the poor and needy, to slay those who are of upright conduct.
9. The Lord breaks the arms of the wicked.
10. The wicked shall perish.
11. God’s enemies, like the splendour of the meadows, shall vanish. They shall vanish away into smoke.
12. The wicked are those who borrow and do not repay
13. Those cursed by the Lord shall be cut off.
14.The Lord cuts off the descendants of the wicked.
15. Transgressors will be destroyed together.
16.The future of the wicked shall be cut off.
When I read this, I am brought to face realities about our Holy God, which I so easily push aside. With ease, using love as my yardstick, I keep my mind ever fixed on God’s forgiving love and on how patient and gracious He is, thereby, I erase all about His Anger, His Justice and His Holiness. My words are always about His love for me and never about His displeasure and wrath against me.
In this case, I simply ran through the pile, skipping over much. Honestly, I tell you, I read it all with all solemnity, dignity and a kind of pseudo fear, but in my heart of hearts I was not seeing me perfectly matched or fitted in any of them. For example, from the onset, from No. 1, I did not see myself as soon being cut down, like grass. Nos. 8 and 13 were completely out of my purview. However, truth refused to allow me to have my deceived, misguided own way.
What about you?
Then I distinctly heard these words. Our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12: 29,
Let’s know fear-consuming silence before the Lord. Amen!
