Strangers Visit
If you were as I was, just hearing that Father God chose strangers, to be the first earthly visitors to go and see His Only Begotten Son, lying in a manger, really set my mind thinking. O how it did so many things for me and brought some needed and vital changes in my ways of thinking. Let’s now receive, as has been offered.
Seek the Holy Spirit, to grant you wisdom and understanding. Ask Him to make His given Word, flesh in you.
Strangers
The first thing to carefully note, is that these visitors are total strangers. Here is a crowd of people, more than two to be sure, and since two is company and three is a crowd, a crowd has come to see the Baby. These shepherds do not know this family, just as Mary and Joseph do not know them. Their visit is made possible through Divine information and intervention. There are times when others, people whom we do not even know, come to us, to witness, to see, to experience and to receive that which has been born in us, through God’s Divine Works.
Have you ever stopped to think of it? Through God’s purpose and design, He so orchestrated it that strangers were the first people to visit the Baby Jesus. Strangers to the earthly parents of Jesus, were the first human beings to witness and worship the Lord Jesus in His infancy. This was enough for Mary to treasure up and ponder it all in her heart.
A Powerful Word to Treasure! The Word of God, which has been brought forth through you, may be still in its infancy stages, but it is God’s perfect Word and it will bring believers to respect and bow to it. Treasure and ponder this Word in your heart.
Shepherds
The second fact of interest which we raise, is that these strangers were carers of flocks. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. Luke 2: 8. What’s so special about shepherds? There were many other people in David’s City, such as farmers, artisans, fisher-folk and many other hardworking people. Yet, Sovereign, Almighty, Father God, chose to send His angel to earth, to shepherds, while they were at work. These were not people who were in a synagogue, singing, praising and glorifying the Name of God. They were not in the fields, under the open skies, having an all-night vigil, worshipping and praying to God. No! These were not worshippers. They were workers, doing their daily work. So why choose these particular shepherds and no one else? We do not know, and we really don’t have the capacity to fathom the wisdom and ways of Almighty God. However, we do know and fully accept that His wisdom, ways and works, are never with fault. This was enough for Mary to treasure and ponder it all up in her heart.
A Powerful Word to Treasure! The Word of God, which has been brought forth through you, will bring forth obedience in some one. Indeed! Someone will deny himself or herself, in order to receive your offered Word. Treasure and ponder this Word in your heart.
Tomorrow, we continue in this same vein
