Signs Of The New Remain
On this privileged Lord’s Day Sunday, this day which begins another week in the first month of our given New Year, signs of the newness of the year are still around us. In the world of commerce and as people converse with each other, it is not uncommon to hear businesses, speaking about prolonged New Year’s sales or held over New Year’s sales.
People who have not seen each other for the New Year, are still wishing each other, Happy New Year.
Indeed, for many of us, the New Year is still on our minds and on our lips, as the New Year. Never mind that we are fast heading for the middle of the month, we are still in the mode of new and fresh, where the year is concerned. If we hold on to the freshness, and brightness of new, then we will easily be carried into the beauty and wisdom of new, in our Lord God. Thus we are ready and desirous of beginning this week with fullest anticipation of good from our Father in heaven, whose will is that none of us should perish.
Let’s stake all our trust and faith in our Heavenly Father whose will is unmoveable, whose word is infallible, and whose way is unconquerable. Will we, seeking the freshness and newness of minds and hearts fixed and fitted for our Master, listen to and humbly receive these living words? May the Holy Spirit help us not to forget this one thing, as is brought to us in 2 Peter 3: 8b – 9. With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
We perish in many ways and because of many lacking things. One sure way by which the people of God are destroyed or they perish, is when there is a lack of God’s knowledge. We read this most openly and frankly, when Hosea speaks these words of God to His own, about the present priests and prophets of that time. The people were perishing, being destroyed from lack of knowledge. My people are destroyed from a lack of knowledge. Hosea 4: 6.
We come therefore in this time and place, mindful that our heavenly Father does not want us perishing for lack of knowledge, of wisdom and of truth. In His own love and tender mercy, He has given us an, on the spot, ever willing, ever present, ever teaching, ever telling and ever patient Paraclete, to save us from such folly.
Father in heaven, we diligently seek You to save us and keep us this day and throughout our given times, from the dreaded folly of perishing for lack of knowledge. Amen!
Thank You for this day and for tomorrow, if it be Your desire to give it to us, that we may prove Your Word in truth and in fact. Amen!
With our Master, Father and Sovereign Lord, we face a various week ahead and we give heartfelt and sincerest praise and thanks, to the One who is our Counsellor, Guide, Teacher and Enabler.
