We begin this week, with gratitude, and never-ending praise and thanks to Sovereign Father God, for all that He has done for us, our family and friends. We give Him all glory, laud and honour, for His matchless, wonderful unsurpassed grace and mercy. There is no God like our God, in all areas and aspects. There is none like Jehovah - Father, Son and Holy Ghost - for He is Love.
Today, I invite you to join me in lifting high our Father in heaven, who came down to this sinful, vile and wild earth, in His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be the propitiation for our sins. He came in substitutionary form, taking all our sins, and I mean every single sin of this wicked world, upon His innocent self. He who was pure, perfect and without fault, who knew no sin, was made sin for us. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5: 21. We cannot but lift our Incarnate God higher and higher for His Love stands alone.
Love saw us sinners, doomed under the curse of death. It is our just deserved, as we have worked for it, since the wages of sin is death. Love saw how utterly lost we were, with no help or hope of salvation and He came willingly to redeem us with His own precious, priceless Blood. To do this, God Incarnate, had to be made a curse for us and He never hesitated, nor relented in His work of salvation. Listen to what we are told in Galatians 3: 13. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree). Can you truly process this unsearchable, impenetrable, unending Love of God in Christ Jesus?
God has not just given us Himself in Jesus, but He is with us in His Holy Spirit who is present in welcoming hearts and minds. Yes, it is through the abiding Holy Spirit that the rich abundance of life, Jesus came to give, is made actual to us and in us. Jesus, as He spoke to a crowd of the highest and the lowest minds, faiths and beliefs, publicly said these words.
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10: 10b KJV. It appears like this in the NIV. I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. Fullness of life or abundance of life, are one and the same in Jesus. It is life that is rich and free. It is the sinner's treasure.
Paul, a man who describes himself as the least of the least, speaks of the boundless grace Jesus has given to him to preach to the Gentiles. Paul’s entire life, his joy, his hope, his every breath was Jesus and Him Crucified. He no longer lived, but Christ lived in him, so that he could, with all surety, confidence and confirming power and authority give Christ to his hearers. Paul was proud and pleased, to preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ. Ephesians 3: 8b. For the first time, I really have let my mind sit on this phrase, unsearchable riches, as a hen sits on her eggs.
As obvious as it may have been to many of you, it never was given birth to me, in such a simple way. All I received was this. You do not have to search for Jesus’ riches, because they are unsearchable. You, do not have to search for any of His riches, because they have already been given to you, through Jesus’ death and resurrection. Who goes searching for a spouse, if he or she already has one? Who goes searching for food, if food is already on your table?
Friends, do not be deceived about the full and abundant life for which Jesus has already died to procure for you. This is no treasure-hunting search, depending on a person’s acumen, skill and agility. No! A thousand times, No! Jesus has already given you life in all its glory. All we have to do is to respond to Him, for He Himself is life’s abundance, fullness and riches.
Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you how to live Christ’s abundance, just where you are, and in whatsoever state you may be.
Then, like the hymn writer, C. H. Gabriel, we too can sing;
