Receiving From The Sun

We have agreed that the setting sun remains the sun as it sets or goes down. As obvious as it may seem, it is necessary to speak this truth again and again. Regardless of what we see, say or think, the sun never has a change of name, it remains the sun. I had shared with you one reason why the sun remained the same and it was because he is the same, in coming and in going; in rising and in setting; in beginning and in ending. It was also shared with you that this reminded us of God the Son, who is Jesus. Jesus is the same in rising and in setting; in coming and in going and in beginning and in ending. The Son of God remains the same!

However, this is what gets me each day, as the sun nears his final travel. He seems to have a very resolute, directed and un-wavering mission, that of showing off very bright light, so that the setting sun is impossible to look at with the naked eye. In other words, when the sun is brightly shining in the day, especially at midday, it is impossible for the ordinary human eye to stare at its powerful beauty.

Now here it is, when the sun is weakening, as we figure it out to be, and expect that it will wane in light, somehow, it seems to get a powerful boost and burst of energy, and it blasts forth in some awe-blinding shining that illuminates the place with blinding light. Motorists on the roads can testify to it. Homeowners know about it, as quite often, drapes and blinds have to be shut and shades pulled down, because of the commandingly dazzling light of the setting sun. There is no difference in response then to this moment with the setting sun or the overhead moments with the midday sun.

Is this not a reliably perfect image of Jesus, God the Son, whose light is forever bright, in whatsoever state He is? See Him on top of the mountain, where His Transfiguration took place. Note the brightness of the light of sweet, heavenly fellowship as Jesus', face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Matthew 17: 2b. Now see Him on top the Cross, where His Crucifixion took place. Note the brightness of the Light of sweet, forgiving Grace and Love, how unbelievably immense, so that one sinner received the pure and perfect light of everlasting life, with the dying Son. I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise. Luke 23: 43b.

We cannot help but see that even when the Son of the Father was weak and frail on the cross, when He was going down, as it were, when His final moments were taking place, His Light of Love shone bright, for the sinner's eyes to bow before. The other sinner carried the blindness of this dark world in his eyes and could not see as the other sinner saw.

Both sinners have eyes. Both sinners are on a cross, because of their sins. Both sinners are on the same straight path to hell. Both sinners are in the final stages of this earthly life. Look! Behold! Jesus the Son is present. One sinner looks to the Son’s Light and sees redemption and pardoning Love, and seeks a place with the Son, Jesus Christ. He receives what he believes.

The other sinner looks to the Son’s Light and sees pure darkness, for all he can see is as the Pharisees and chief priests saw. For them, this Man from Galilee, was an imposter, who was really the son of Beelzebub and not the Son of God. He wanted no place with the Son, Jesus. He receives what he believes.

Ensure that you do believe our Jesus is whom He says He is. Take Him at His Name, for His Name is as sure and certain as His Word.

Jesus whose light is never dim,

Honour and praise let’s give to Him,

Name above all, beyond compare,

There’s none like Jesus, we declare.

Amen!
