Now that we have been taken through Psalm 37, before us are two lucrative piles of Admonitions and Acquisitions. We thank God for these true, correcting and comforting words of His servant and friend, David. These are words which, if by faith we accept, our lives will be, in this place and time, nothing but grateful, penitent and surrendered lives to our Father in heaven. In this mind and heart, we complete the final two lucrative, Spirit-guided piles.
Words of Acclamation – What is David acclaiming? He is making claim to all that his God will do for the righteous. These are all who, without compromising, place and keep all their faith and trust in God and who fear Him.
1. God will give you the desires of your heart.
2. God will bring things to pass.
3. God shall bring forth your righteousness as the light.
4. God shall bring forth your justice like the noonday.
5. Those who wait on the Lord shall inherit the earth.
6. The meek shall inherit the earth.
7. The meek shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
8. The Lord upholds the righteous.
9. The Lord knows the days of the upright and ensures that their inheritance shall be forever.
10. The Lord will see to it that the upright will not be ashamed in the evil time, and when there is famine, they shall be satisfied.
11. The righteous one is shown mercy and the Lord gives inheritance of the earth to those who are blessed by Him.
12. The Lord upholds the upright with His hand, so that even though there is a fall, he will not be utterly cast down.
13. The Lord blesses the descendants of the righteous.
14. The Lord does not forsake His saints.
15. The Lord preserves His saints forever.
16. The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell in it forever.
17. The Lord will not leave the righteous in the hand of the wicked, though he watches the righteous and seeks to slay him.
18. The Lord will not condemn the righteous when he is judged.
19. The Lord exalts the righteous to inherit the land.
20. The Lord will let the righteous see it, when He cuts off the wicked.
21. God’s peace is the future of the righteous.
22. Mark the blameless one, observe the upright and see God’s everlasting peace.
This pile is so pleasant to the sight, soothing to the hearing, sweet to the taste, aromatic to the smell and smooth to the touch, it is very easy to simply bask here in dream-like splendour. From alpha to omega, No.1 to No. 22, we will cuddle them all to our bosoms. Quickly however, we are pricked into the reality that this is only for the righteous of God. Reluctantly, I open my arms wide, and let them all slowly fall out, one by one.
What about you?
Let’s know fact-revealing silence before the Lord. Amen!

The LORD is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him. Habakkuk 2: 20.
Words of Adoration – On this final heap, David speaks boldly and proudly of the faithfulness of God, with greatest admiration for His thoughtfulness, faithfulness and absolute infallibility.
1. God orders the steps of a good man.
2. God delights in the way of a good man.
3. God is uncompromisingly faithful and true in His Word and Way to His righteous ones. This is David’s testimony as he adores his God for His unquestionable faithfulness. I have been young says David, and now that I am old, this I can testify that I have never seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.
4. God is Just and Right in His Ways in dealing with the wicked ones. David brings first-hand witness of this, as he gives adoration to Almighty God. I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading like a native tree. Yet he passes away, and behold he was no more; indeed I sought him, but he could not be found.
5. God is the One and Only True Saviour and He gives salvation to the righteous. David speaks with adoring and glorious joy about the mercy and truth of God. He speaks from the heart of experience, when he declares about the righteous that the Lord is their strength in time of trouble.
David ends this psalm with adoring and honouring words about his God. He is unmoved, deadly sure and most confident in the unshakable faithfulness and trustworthiness of his God, to defend and help the righteous.
Note, having begun his psalm with words of admonition to the righteous, encouraging them not to fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity, he concludes with firm assurances of God’s helping, Right Hand.
The Lord shall help the righteous and deliver them.
The Lord will deliver them from the wicked.
The Lord will save them.
