Power In The Name of Jesus

As was said, we had a special and needed reminder of who our Jesus is, to all who felt that hope had all gone and all who say that they have hope, but think, speak and act as though hope is lost to them. We thank God for Jesus who, even now, regardless of many and varied fears and torments, remains our victorious hope.

To refresh our minds of where we were before we had a life-saving pause, to bring in yesterday’s ‘breaking news’, meditation, we are being reminded of what was last stated about the Name of Jesus and knowing Him.  I had shared with you on what took place outside Peter’s house after Jesus had cured his mother-in-law of a severe fever. I had told you of the part in this drama, which really got me and by the way, still gets to me. Devils were shouting out who Jesus was. They not only recognized Him, but they made it public. How come they were able to cry out to the Man from Galilee, that He was the Christ of God? Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ. Luke 4: 41. Were the demons not naming Jesus, who is Christ? Wasn’t that exactly why Jesus stopped them from saying anything more about His Name and who He was? They were naming Him, big time, and Jesus could not have demons, telling His Story. Deep within our consciousness, conscience and conscientiousness, does it not trouble you whether or not you are dead sure of Jesus and who He is, as those demons were?

Having therefore, been made to think a bit more on the Actual Name of Jesus, we move on to, Attributes of the Name Jesus. By attributes, we are looking at what is attributed to His Name. This is inexhaustible, but we shall cream off a few.

Power – There is power in the Name of Jesus. Indeed, power is attributed to the Name of Jesus. Without having to think, we are ushered to the words Jesus spoke to His disciples, as He was preparing to return to the Father in His glorified body. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well. Mark 16: 17 – 18.

Get this straight! This is Jesus Himself, speaking about His Name. This is not what someone else is saying about the power which lies in Jesus’ Name. This is what Jesus is saying, without fear or favour, to every single person who believes. Listen to this most exclusively unpretentious and victoriously glorious list of the Power in His Name.

In My Name, those who believe will drive out demons. Demons of all kinds and quantities.

In My Name, those who believe will speak with new tongues. Regardless of what they have to say, in the Name of Jesus, it will not be of human power, but of the power in His Name.

In My Name, those who believe will pick up snakes with their hands. Note, there is nothing to suggest that new and different hands will be provided to the believer. No! It is that in the power of the Name of Jesus, when those who believe meet snakes, unexpected or not, the Name of Jesus will make that believer unafraid of the snakes and their poison. Power in the Name of Jesus, guarantees you victory over any snake.

In My Name, those who believe, when they drink deadly poison, not just poison, but the deadliest of them all, it will not hurt them in any way.  God knows, even as I write these words, I am asking if I truly believe them. Like many, if not all of you, I too confess Jesus as Lord and say that I believe in Him. But when it comes to His attributes, especially this one, in this time, with poisonous food being thrown down our throats, why do we fear?  Even from among believers, beliefs, ideas, interpretations, suggestions and more are nothing but deadly poisons, which demolish, destroy and kill one’s faith – belief, hope, trust – in Jesus.  But if we truly do believe, as Jesus says, even though some of these poisons get into our systems, the Name of Jesus is powerful enough to deal with all, in quantity and quality. Faith, hope, trust, belief and more, can and will remain solid and unaffected by deceitful and vicious poisons.

In My Name, those who believe, will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well. Understand this, the believer’s hands are ordinary hands. Jesus takes the ordinary hands of the believer and in His Name, power is given to those hands, healing power, so that they can touch any sick and the sick will be made well.

Must a believer only expect the Power in Jesus’ Name for one or two of this itemized list? No! A trillion times no! The Power in the Name of Jesus is unimagined by human thought.

Lord Jesus, You, whose Name is Power, I have no prayer, but for You in Your grace and mercy to help me in my unbelief, please. Amen!
