On this final day of offerings for this week, we conclude, calmly reasoning together, as our Captain Holy Spirit guides us through. It was stated that whoever abides in Jesus, with undeniable belief, and He abides in them, they will know all that Love gives. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, He is Love. It was also said that all that is offered by our Captain, definitely includes unfathomable distance from danger and fear. Questions were asked. How can this ever be true? How can we accept such thinking, when we are living in a world of danger – snares, traps, deceit, and every other conceivable and inconceivable evil - just waiting to capture us?

We commence our reasoning by returning to the cruise liner. However, at this time, you are placing yourselves as passengers on board. What you are receiving is also true of what happens when you are being piloted by the captain of the airplane.

So you are on board the cruise liner or vessel, and the captain comes on the intercom and announces that there are rough seas ahead, due to some disturbing weather. His voice is honest, true and most confident, when he tells you that you do not have to panic or fear, for he will bring you through safely. He assures you that his vessel will not be broken up, it will not be overcome, by any hellish waters and it will never sink. What has the captain just told you and all the other passengers?

You have been told that there are rough seas ahead. That’s danger.
You have been told not to be afraid, because your captain will see you through safely. That’s faith and trust, no fear.

Our minds go to Jesus and His disciples when He, as their Captain, told them these words of like meaning.  In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.  John 16: 33b. In other words, Jesus is saying that in this world there’s danger, but He has overcome all danger. In this world there’s fear, but He has overcome all fear.

When we previously noted these lines, As far from danger as from fear, When love, almighty love, is near, we were told of a huge contrast, where love was given full supremacy, superiority and sovereignty. There was also the understanding that it was imperative that we each acknowledged God, the Holy Spirit, as our Captain and Guide.  This would only be an actual reality to us and in us, if our minds are not conformed to the ways and thoughts of the world. We must, without exception, have our minds renewed by the same Spirit, who has brought us to this time and place, called, today.

What are we seeing? What are we hearing? What are we being reminded of, about our Captain Holy Spirit? There are three stubbornly unchangeable facts about God, in Name, in Nature and in Nurture, which must be ever working and producing God’s Good on our transformed minds.

Name – The Name of our Captain and Guide is, Love. Note, He is also God. He is God the Holy Spirit. He is the Triune God, for He is God, the Father and God, the Son. Never ever let worldly minds sway you away, even to the tiniest degree, from believing that your Captain can be called Captain Father or Captain Jesus. His Name is Love. One of the beautiful and highly expressive Christmas carols written by C. G. Rossetti, hails the fact that, “Love came down at Christmas”. The Name of the One who came down, is Love. Reason this. If the Trinity is One and God the Father is Love and God the Son is Love, must not God the Holy Spirit be Love also? Captain Holy Spirit, carries the Name of Love – Name Superior! Name above all names.

Nature – The Nature of our Captain and Guide is Love. Love is God’s very nature and existence. Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4: 7b – 8. To be born of Love is to have the nature of Love. When we are born of the Spirit we are born of Love, the Spirit’s Nature. Remember this. If the Trinity is One and God the Father is Love and God the Son is Love, must not God the Holy Spirit be Love also? Captain Holy Spirit, carries the Nature of Love - Nature Sovereign! King above all kings.

Nurture – The Nurture of our Captain and Guide is Love. To nurture is to tend, to bring up, or to take care of. We are nurtured by Love and only in Love. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved). Ephesians 2:  4 – 5. Receive this. If the Trinity is One and God the Father is Love and God the Son is Love, must not God the Holy Spirit be Love also? Captain Holy Spirit, carries the Nurture of Love – Nurture Supreme.  Lord of all lords.

Among other things, we have been shown our Captain Holy Spirit, as Love: -

In Name – Superior.

In Nature – Sovereign.

In Nurture – Supreme.

Is this not Almighty Love, Love which nothing and no one can conquer; neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8: 38b – 39.

We are as far from danger as from fear, when this surpassing Love of our Captain and Guide is near.

Why the big sweat? Love Almighty is near,
Your Captain’s not left you and gone elsewhere.
