Looking Around Powers

But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up. Mark 9: 27

Look around carefully. It is plain for all to see that a fierce battle is in progress. The opponents in this raging battle are the Spirit of God and the spirit of evil. This is a battle between the Power of Good and the power of evil. The battleground is the life of a father’s son.

This is the battle so far. Jesus has come to the battlefield and has taken on the enemy single-handedly, using His Power and Authority to conquer that evil spirit. When Jesus steps into the battleground, meaning, when He comes into the possessed boy’s life, He speaks to the demon.

Look up! Jesus has Power to speak to the enemy spirit. You deaf and mute spirit, I command you to, come out of him and never return. Mark 9: 25b. Note clearly and emphatically also, that Jesus has power over the evil spirit, not just to speak and ask, hoping and wishing, but to command that demon. Jesus commands and His command must be obeyed. Jesus has never yet commanded an evil spirit that has been disobedient. The battle is fought and won with the sword of the Word of Power.

Look down! Jesus has Authority over the unclean spirit. Having commanded the unwanted spirit to come out of the person, Jesus speaks, what I call His, ALL Word, Abundant Life Living Word. My mind can’t even begin to wrap around this life. A person who has been plagued by demon-possession has had this demon cast out of him, with the absolute assurance that for as long as he lives this demon-spirit will never ever be able to even touch him again. My God! If this is not ALL Living, Abundant living, what is? This is not something one has to look forward to in the life to come. Absolutely not! This is for now, in the flesh, in this time of deaf and dumb spirits running around the earth. Jesus never killed the spirit and He never ever banished it from the earth. This spirit is still doing his wicked works of possession, but not in the person whom Jesus has freed and given ALL life, Abundant-Life Living. The battle is fought and won with the sword of the Word of Authority.

Look across! Jesus has Wisdom over the wily demon. Now Jesus has commanded the unwanted, oppressive spirit to come out of the boy and the spirit obeys. However, the spirit doesn’t obey willingly, or peacefully. In other words, he does not leave with his tail between his legs, as the saying goes. He goes out fighting fiercely, in cruel, evil vindictiveness for what Jesus has done to him. He has fired his final blow, his last desperate attack at the freed, healed boy, getting at Jesus for utterly and thoroughly humiliating him in public; completely and totally stripping him of all the authority and power he once wielded on that poor, helpless human being and eternally banning him from ever entering that life again. The evil spirit leaves all right, but he thinks he has the last laugh, as the boy lays there on the ground as one dead. Even those who are looking on at what has taken place, take up a ‘sad song’. They are saying that the boy is dead.

Look within! Jesus has Supremacy over the evil spirit. Look at the tactics of the enemy, even in this death of his power and authority. Look carefully at what he wants to create, as he sets up a different strategy, to be able to hold on to what has been lost to him. The defeated, evil spirit knows very well that the boy is not dead, but he skilfully works his actions to deceive many who are looking around, to keep their gaze on his dead doing, his impotent power and his empty might. However, Jesus, Superior Spirit, bends low to the ground, where the defeated spirit has thrown the healed, freed life. Looking around, from every angle, those looking on, who have witnessed the battle and know that the evil spirit has been cast out, without even knowing it, are playing into the hands of the defeated foe. Their talk is giving the final victory to the demon. Jesus cannot allow this. He wants the witnesses to look within them. They are singing the lyrics they see with their eyes. The Spirit of Jesus cannot allow even the blind of sight to speak what is false about Him and His work. Jesus does not just hold that life, but He has this freed life stand on his own two feet, to go and live the Abundant Life Jesus has given to him. Jesus lifts the freed life from the last desperate attack of the enemy, that of deceiving human eyes. In this one action, has not Jesus even brought greater defeat to the defeated enemy in that Jesus has made even the blinded eyes to see and know the truth about Him and His Works?

Look around! See the Lord!
Receive the Living Truth of who the Spirit of Truth is, and who is the spirit of lies.
