Looking Around

Today, the first day of another new week, is also the first Lord’s Day Sunday in an already moving along month. We know that the times are in Creator God’s Hands. We know that we are here, in this moment and time, because of Him. We know that through all the changing scenes of our lives, God has not just been faithful to bring us to this new port, called today, but He has been faithful in forgiving us and keeping us ever seeking Him.
It is in our ever faithful God, we have the privilege of standing wherever He leads and guides us. We have been graciously granted the sight and mind to recognize Him and worship Him, the Most High, as Lord and God. He is Lord and Master of all that is known and unknown to us. He is God of heaven and earth and there is nothing that He has not made. All things were made through Him and without Him nothing was made that was made. John 1: 3.
Through God’s creation then, through all that He has made, seen and unseen, we can come before our Sovereign, Creator God and glorify His Name. It is in this faith, this sure faith that we embark upon a most vicarious week of meditations, receiving only good, from different places.
Proverbs 15: 3, gives us this wonderful and life-stabilizing truth about our Sovereign God. The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good. With Him as our Leader, Guide, Teacher and Enabler, we anticipate a week of being taken to different places and meeting different people as faith and trust are massaged and strengthened in Him. Yes, we shall be looking all around us as we receive and are blessed in our receiving. By faith, we are accepting the blessedness and bounty of looking around as was given to Abram our father of faith. Our first look around then, is with Abram, as we look at what is taking place in Genesis 13: 14 – 17 NIV.
The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.
Note God’s promise to Abram and his offspring, all children of faith. Look around and receive the bountiful, abounding, never-failing blessings of the Lord, Creator of all.
Friends, believers in faith, if this is not a blessing to you and to me, to look around us with our eyes – northward, southward, eastward and westward – wherever we turn and from any direction, and know that blessings abide and abound there for us, I don’t know what is.
Look around! See the Lord! Receive, through and in the Holy Spirit.
