God Uses An Eagle
You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Exodus 19:4
These are some of the words the Lord has given to His mouth piece, Moses. It is the desire and will of God, to be with His children, in the likeness of human flesh, in the man Moses. While the children of God were camped at Mount Sinai in the desert, in front of the sacred mountain, these words were given for them. God called Moses to climb the mountain, where he would meet with the Lord in private, so that he could return with these words of God, for God’s children.
What is God saying to them? Of what is the Lord bringing to the forefront of the minds of His people? The Lord ensures that He helps their memory, by telling them what He wants them to remember, in the place where they now are. It is while they are in the desert of Sinai that the Lord causes them to remember, with the words He gives to them. What I find most, chilling, yet most calming, is that the Lord is not asking me if I remember. He is saying to me, remember, as He brings it all back to me, to us.
We are God’s children. You are God’s child. These words are for you, in your present, desert place. It is not your permanent place and you know it, but it is such a scary and dry place, you often forget who you are and where you are, in relation to your heavenly Father. Like your fore-brothers and sisters, you often forget, because you are seeing yourself in relation to the place where you are presently. It is right here, at your present Sinai, that the Lord has sent this word of remembering, for you. Of what is the Lord reminding you? What does He want your heart and mind focused upon, right now, in your harsh and unpleasant situation and experience? What are you to remember?
You are to remember three actions of Love, which Father God has done for you. These are all refreshing, revitalizing and resurrecting actions of Love, which the Saving Lord has done for you. These are what you have received at the hands of your Father in heaven. These three, uplifting acts, are found in the words given by the Lord God.
Remember what I did to Egypt - You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt.
What is Egypt? Who is Egypt? Where is Egypt? Egypt is the grave that once held you. It is the place where you were unable to live and move and have your being. It is the slave place where you were buried, suffocating under the dirt and rubble of evil, which was daily being piled upon you by the evil ruler. It is the place where you lived in darkness, unable to come out on your own. Now, remember what I did to Egypt.
I took away all Egypt’s rule over you. I totally dethroned your Egypt and its reign over you. Now it no longer has dominion over you.
I took away Egypt’s hold over you. I totally defeated your Egypt and made it powerless, to keep you in its grave any longer.
I took away Egypt’s claim over you. I totally destroyed your Egypt, so that it no longer has any legal and lawful claim or rights to you.
I took away Egypt’s boast over you. I totally defamed your Egypt and made all its brags and boasts into empty nothingness, so that all Egypt remains silent about what it can and can’t do to you.
Remember! This is what I have done for you. Is this not a life-giving work in your life? Remember your liberation. I have raised you out of the grave of Egypt.
Remember what I did to you – And how I carried you on eagles’ wings.
Remember how I carried you. I did not just send you on with some other, when I saved you from the bondage of your imprisonment. I did not just give life to you, and then leave you to fend for yourself. I did not just raise you up and tell you the way to go, leaving you to struggle and find your own way. No! Remember the eagles’ wings! I carried you Myself. I raised you from the grave and I raised you higher, as I put you on the Mighty wings of My Holy Spirit, who transported you.
We are told that the Sinai region is called, eagle country. The Lord God uses the image of a common sight, seen by the golden eagle. Whenever it is time for the young, new, inexperienced bird to find its wings, so to speak and learn the soaring of the parent, the caring, loving and protecting mother is right there. When, in this learning process, the bird begins to fall to its death, the parent bird, who is watching its offspring with keen eyes, swoops down under the falling bird. With its strong, wide, long wings, open to fullest span, the fledgling lights on the wings or back of the parent. The parent then takes and carries it safely on its strong, secure, comforting wings.
The children of God have known this kind of carrying, this eagles’ wings, carrying, for each time they were about to, ‘die’ in their journey after Egypt, they were rescued, comforted and saved by the transporting Hand of Father God. For example, when they were facing the prospects of death by hunger, did God not come to them, with outstretched arms and feed them His life saving manna? Remember your salvation. I have raised you out of the grave of murmuring and grumbling.
Remember where I brought you – And brought you to myself.
Remember, I never brought you to some remote place and left. I never took you to another father or another home. I never gave you a surrogate father nor mother, neither did I take you to an orphanage. I carried you and brought you to Me. My Love, My doing, was only to have you with Me. Have I ever abandoned you and left you to die, without coming to rescue you? Have I been absent in your life? Have I not brought you to Life, Hope, Peace and Comfort? I am Life! I am Peace! I am Hope! I am Comfort! In bringing you to Myself, have I not brought you all these and more? Is this not redemption and salvation in your life?
Remember your salvation. I have raised you out of the hands of all your captors, all who will take responsibility for you, and give you a life of disquiet, darkness, weariness and bitterness.
Every word the Lord speaks to His children of Israel is perfectly seen in Jesus, when the Father rescued His Son from His grave. If we can but see the power and strength of the Holy Spirit, to raise Jesus out, then we are able to understand the image of the eagles’ wings. It is the Spirit of God who lifted Jesus high above the grave, so that no grave was able to hold Him down. If at all, we understand and accept this truth, then we are to see ourselves also, as the same Holy Spirit of the Father, who raised Jesus and gave freedom to Him, will also raise us on Eagles’ wings.
Remember! Teach us to live in the light of Your compelling, changing Word. Amen!
