Another new Lord’s Day Sunday, another new first day of a brand new Week. What a privilege to know that our God is not just Lord, but His mercies endure forever. How very comforting for all people, in whatsoever state we are, to be able to trust God for His unfailing promises and sure help in times of trouble. We know these, but sometimes it is good, necessary and extremely vital that we hear our Lord’s promises to us again and again.

We are His children, and many of us are His little children, His little flock. In the same way parents keep repeating and doing things daily, without consideration even of rest, in telling and showing their little ones how much they love them, appreciate them and want only the best for them, so too with our Heavenly Father. He has always been a loving and caring Father to us, and still is, regardless of our disgruntled dispositions and ways at times. Our Father God has always cared for us and has never, ever, for one single second even, relinquished His Fatherliness to us.

Who are we, His wayward, stubborn, ungrateful, undeserving children, that He should still love us with an everlasting love? As much as we may know this and some may even know it by heart, it is good for us to hear it again. It is good for us to pause, take a breath and take time to listen again in faith and joy. We hear Sovereign God, as our Father in heaven, speaking again, in tender, sweet, comforting and all-embracing tones, of His unfailing love for us. This is love which no human mind or heart can express. This is love that goes beyond all carnal understanding, logical reasoning and human telling. What consuming love! What igniting love! What changing love!

We listen with deep reverence and humbled hearts as we hear Moses sing of God’s unfailing love, mercy and pity to Jacob, His own deviant child, helplessly lost in the wilderness of sin and degradation. Is this not the perfect picture of our history, children of God, you and me, who went our own ways, being disobedient, stubborn and rebellious? Just listen to who our Father is to us, as well.

He found him in a desert land and in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him; He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye. As an eagle stirs up a nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings, so the LORD alone led him, and there was no foreign god with Him. Deuteronomy 32: 10 – 12.

What can we say, when we remember who our Loving, Heavenly Father is? What can we do, when we are held by such immeasurable love, such breath-taking truth? All we can state, ask and whisper, with quiet, trembling lips of awesomeness, as others have already breathed out, is this. Who are we, O God, that You are so mindful of us? Who are we, Sovereign Creator, God Most High, that You visit us? Who are we, Holy, Divine Father, that You so want us and are so jealous of us?

Father, before You I fall in deepest, praise and thanks, for You and You alone are my Heavenly Father. Please keep reminding me that in whatsoever state I am, I am Yours. When I am in trouble, when I am poor, weak and unable to help myself, bring back to my troubled heart and mind that I can look to You. Come to me O Father, and assure me of strength and courage in You and You alone. Amen!

During this week, we shall be tracking a widow in her quest for urgent help, in her weak and powerless state. We shall be greatly astonished and removed from our stale, same-old, mundane thoughts and ideas, as we are quickened in knowledge and learning. We will be shown the humanly hidden, yet spiritually revealed light of the astute, victorious working of God’s Mighty Hand, in the widow’s life.

God Almighty’s, endearing, jealous, uplifting and everlasting Love for us, covers us strongly, refusing to have us seduced by self-pity, swallowed up by sorrows, beaten down by burdens, defeated by depression or taken by temptations.

By faith, let us believe, know and live these truths about our Heavenly Father, even in this now hour, whatever our present conditions.
